New PS3 Owner: Hoping it was a good choice

If it could decode DTS-MA internally it would be the perfect player. Otherwise is only 99% perfect.

That's excellent news! It it was as simple as "Share my iTunes library to ______", that would be perfect. But, a standalone app that gets the job done would be great too!

I have had soooo much fun with my PS3 after having a standalone player.
One of the BEST electronics purchases I ever made. Blu-ray movies (EVERY BD movie plays without a glitch), streaming media from my PC, my kid has gone "nuts" playing Ratchet and Clank, USB port and SD card slot so my "techo-phobic" wife can easily view her digital photos. I just keep finding more uses for it.

The only downside is no internal decoding of DTS-HDMA. But hopefully that will be fixed soon too!

2) Does not Bitstream TrueHD or DTS-MA over HDMI (not a big deal with LPCM being fantastic! But I want my receiver lights to come on, you know the high def audio ones )

All in all I have been very hesitant replacing my PS3 as my primary Blu player because, well, my PS3 has been brilliant.

I love the Bloetooth remote I can turn PS3 on with a touch of any botton. I like the fact I can still use the remote while I am not in my room

Problem solved! As I type this, my ITunes library is nicely streaming to my PS3 with Nullriver's MediaLink!

Pretty much. Just put it on a jump-drive(or external harddrive via USB port) then transfer it to your console. Just don't over-load it. You still need room for games. Advise on games. Go to the playstation store via your Playstation 3 and get demos so you can sample them before buying. IT'S FREE! You need to connect it to your high speed modem(via wi-fi or Ethernet) in order to do this.

I discovered a few new things last night:

The downloadable demos you mention, the HD previews of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and a few themes and wallpapers.

The fact that I can hit the "option" button while playing media, and get a really cool set of additional functions!

The fact that I can copy the media I'm sharing via DLNA locally to the PS3!

And, MediaLink, allowing me to do the same with my Mac media library. I was up way later than I should have been, but went to sleep thinking that the PS3 is a technological marvel for the price!

I couldn't agree more. I had originally purchased the PS3 as an economical Blu-Ray player. I never realized you can do so much with it. I just smile everytime people come over and ask to watch scenes from Ratatouille (it's ridiculous how good this looks) or Casino Royale on it. And the games? Rainbow Six: Vegas and Assassin's Creed look phenominal.... absolutely jaw-dropping.

I thank my wife every day for approving this purchase!
