Unhappy 310 to Yuma isn't working in my player

I just purchased a brand new HP Pavillion 9740us last week and it has a BLU-RAY player so I rushed out and purchased 10 new movies. All of them worked except for 310 to Yuma.

The previews on 310 to Yuma worked and when it gets to the title screen where you can select play movie, scene selection, or special features it will not let me play the movie. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work. i have hit play, enter, jump forward, fast forward, and i have even tried using the mouse to select play movie on the sceen. I also exchanged the disc for a new one and the second one did the same thing.

Help please because Wal-Mart wont let me get my money back because of copy-write laws. I am feeling like I threw away $25.00 at the moment. I should also mention that the software that plays the Blu-Ray on the computer is called Quick Play. I couldn't find any new downloads for it anywhere online. If anyone knows anything that could help me I would appreciate the advice. At the moment HP has no idea what is going wrong because the computer is brand new.

Do other Blu-Ray discs play?

It's actually on HP to resolve the issue, but can help to try to identify it.

QuickPlay is HP's software, Support Link for Updates

Quote:
In QuickPlay, double-click the Update icon. The Updates and Enhancements window opens.
Double-click Get the latest QuickPlay updates .
I suggest verifying that, but HP techs should have already gone through that with you.

If it works on other discs that you have [already], it may be the disc. If it doesn't work on any other copy of 3:10 to Yuma, then I suspect there's a fault with their render logic that HP needs to fix.

I have played gi Jane, Employee of The Month, Pirates, & Con Air and all of those have worked perfectly. I did go to the link and am dowloading the updates to quick play so i hope it works. i think it maybe downloading the entire version over again though because it said it was gunna take 43 mins. If it works I will let you know. Thanks for narrowing the problem down for me a bit.

Hmm, taking what Wicky said, I don't know if there's much you can do. Certainly patch up, but if that doesnt' work, my advice is going to be pester HP about it, since it sounds like their software isn't reacting as it should to something in 3:10.

If you can, try to see if you can test your 3:10 disc on someone else's BD player, not a laptop one though, a set-top or a PS3 if you can. Worse case, I'd suggest asking the store if they would help you make sure the disc is technically ok, so you can rule that possibility out when dealing with HP support. And well in general.

I have a question about the blu-ray 3:10 to yuma.

on the region code list, provided by one of the blu-ray.com members it says that the usa version (region code A) will play on a region code B blu-ray player.

But on amazon they say it is NOT region free, so that i need a region A or a region free player. I have a Region B ps3.

So my question is, can i trust this list http://bluray.liesinc.net/ or amazon?
I want the movie realy bad, and it is still not out in the Netherlands. So that is wy i wanted to import it.

Thanks

Default 3:10 to Yuma is Profile 1.1

Have you checked with the manufacturer of your blu ray drive. think the reason that it's not playing on your drive is that is your drive profile 1.1. I'm probably might have found your awswer to your problem here.

3:10 to Yuma is region free. I have a UK region 2 PS3 and I got 3:10 from amazon.com and it worked perfectly. Amazon is not always correct with their region coding details. They had a similar stuff up with Ratatouille claiming that it was all regions.

I trust that website a lot more than amazon.

In this case, because it's PC, most likly the issue is the software. Further, that's not how the profile compatibility works. It shouldn't freeze, regardless if it has BonusView or not. Which is a software problem, hence something HP needs to fix.

Correct, you'll have to wait for the region 2 release of Rata (11 Feb).

I am such a noob when it comes to this. What is a region code? How do I find out what region my player is and then how do I find out what my disc is? I looked on the package and I dont see anything that really tells me the difference between the ones that work and the one that doesn't. The only difference is that the 310 to Yuma was put out by a different company than the others.

I have definately been up HP's butt about this issue and they sent my problem on to a second level manager. They are the ones that devise patches to certain problems I am told. They said they hoped to know more in a week or two. They did say that there is the possibility that it will never work. That was sure not what I wanted to hear. Is there a player out there that works perfectly on PC that we know of? Or is there any other software that can run my player other than this quick play?

I guess you could try POWERDVD (I haven't bought 3:10, so I do not know if it will play) or Arcsoft Total Media Theatre ) but this is expensive software and like any other software it is not guaranteed it will always work... (You have to keep on updating and hope the company resposible will release the necessary patch in time )That is why I am saving money for a PS3...

Anyway, HP should fix this ASAP

Default Lionsgate is at fault, IMHO.

I have been up Dell's butt about the exact same issue: 3:10 to Yuma cannot be controlled and the 'disk menu' cannot be accessed. You can play or fast forward all EIGHT of the previews using the software playback controls but when it comes of starting movie itself nothing works.

I have a Dell XPS, with a Phillip's BD, using Cyberlink Power DVD DX, do you know that means? It means that 'Lionsgate' owes us both $25.00. In fact just to prove it to myself I went and rented another 'Lionsgate' title called War and it acted the very same way, EXCEPT, the keyboard will activate the controls for War where it will not for Yuma, but the mouse is just as dead.

The problem is no standards for interface control, or just bad java code, but one of 2 things have to happen; Lionsgate will have to supply patches for their lousy software to Cyberlink et.al to pass on to us, or 2 someone will have to develop a standard for PC Controls, so we don't have different distributors going different directions.

The biggest pain in our butts is that our Dell/HP branded playback software will find itself in the back of the line when it comes to patches.

Do you have the full version of Powerdvd or the OEM version? I don't have 3:10 to Yuma, but War works perfectly ever since I got the full version of Powerdvd ultra.
