you should never turn the power off during a firmware update.

have you turned it completely off? (flip switch in the back)

were talkin about your PS3 right? or your dads 1200?

The BD-P1200 shuts off the screen(HDMI) when performing an update - Normal.(See manual FW update instructions)
IF you turned it off, you probably bricked the update and player.

btw:
The FW update takes about 30 minutes from the time you select Yes to Update and the screen goes blank.

Oh No. Yeah man if you turned off the player during the update (yes the screen is supposed to go black.) your player is pretty much dead. If its the samsung try calling them to see if they can fix it for you.

I have a rule of thumb for myself regarding firmware updates. I start the update, leave the room and don't return for a half hour. That eliminates all temptation to touch anything, before the update is complete. It's especially a good thing this time of year in the North, where static electricity discharges can damage your AV equipment, even if you don't touch them directly.

It should have been made VERY clear that the firmware update will blank out the screen and will take approximately 30 mins. It also should have been made clear that you should NOT turn off the power. Does Samsung not do this?

This is made very clear in the manual under the Firmware Update section.
Only difference is they say it takes 5 minutes to update but it really takes about 30.

So you know for next time, when the firmware update is 100% done the player will auto shutdown + the player resets ALL the set-up stuff to the default settings. & yes it take 25-30 mins

My update took 23 hours and got stuck, never rebooted. I rebooted it tonight by turning off the power. Then I could only play SD discs.

I burned the ISO again with Nero Burning rom at 4X, make sure to finalize the disc. Put the new ISO in and in 10 minutes I could watch movies.

I could watch Resident Evil Exstinction, but I can't watch Spidey 3?
