Amen. i don't want to turn my kill-sig option on since i do sometimes want to see what equipment or how may blus other people have, but some people felt the need to list every single one of their movies in their sig in a large font and
use
as
many
lines
as
possible.

but why restrict ?

No offence to anyone but i think the sigs should be restricted to 1 or 2 lines at most.
Equipment, movies etc. should be put under system pics.
Maybe this site could add a member gallery like AGON or Canuck Audio.
This way people who actually want to see what equipment and movies a person has can go there and see.

If I was an admin/mod...I would limit sigs to 5 lines, nothing over font size 2.

I'm a party pooper..I know.

Default I shortened mine a while ago

I have noticed some sigs that are definitely out of control though, mine was getting to be a bit much for my own tastes and I figured if I was bothered by others then I should take a hint and start solving the problem at home first.

That said, for mods to change a sig without warning or notification is a bit harsh but I suppose if they were doing several hundred they felt that the time to explain to each person would be too much.

Which is why we need a kill sig button that lets you kill specific people's sigs, rather than one master sigs on/off switch. I WANT to see sigs in general, but we should have the ability to hide annoying ones.

I guess I lucked out. I stripped my sig down to just two lines, when I realized my sig was starting to take more space than my response to a thread.

I stripped the sig to just two lines, and a week later they imposed restrictions. I guess I psychicly knew it was coming. That, and I was getting sick of my own sig.

I wanted to shrink mine down, but I gues it still wasn't short enough. hell I use size 1 font to make it as small as possible. mine I still shorter than some people's 3 liners.

I'd like to say thank you for restricting the signature length...although I had to chop down mine a bit as well.

I was tired of seeing a couple posters with signatures that were longer than any post on the thread

Apologies if I missed the earlier discussion on this, but was there some other problem with users putting images in signatures (maybe bandwidth or ?)

I wanted to put in my personal & team FAH stats as an image, which is free from Extreme Overclocking.com http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/?nav=IMAGES but when I tried to add it, I realized this forum restricts using images in our signatures.

Thought it would have been cool if I could use this: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...00CC&c5=FFFFFF

While I understand the impulse for monster sized signatures I generally think the smaller the better for readability. If anything I would add a rule that only smaller fonts are allowed in the signature. It's much tougher to visually skip the signature when its font is as big as the main text itself.

It's sad that a moderator will not even reply to this thread.

I wanted to edit my signature, it only had 3 lines of text stacked on top of each other to begin with. The problem is, it had a lot of coding, because I was having fun with different font colors, plus bold and italics. So, with more code, it made my signature "5 Lines", even though it wasn't. Ridiculous stuff going on here. I squeezed every bit I could out of it, but this is not how you handle a problem.

You send offenders with large signatures a PM, tell them to please edit their signature, and give them a week to do so. Don't go messing with people's accounts without notice, or instituting a forum rule of 5 lines or less without warning people.

Mishandled is what I'd call it.

God, after reading what I just wrote, I realized how silly it all sounds... people, it is just a box of text on a website. How are we getting so worked up about it?

The main problem that I see with it is that I would prefer having my system information in my signature as I do now, that way if I have any technical questions I wouldn't have to give them all the time.
