He is head of the HDM department at Universal and a board memeber of the Hd Dvd group. I think if they did in fact go nuetral this year I would expect it to be around Q2 or Q3. Even though they have been lurking around BD authoring facilities, I'm sure making tranfers to BD would take some time.

Nothing will happen tomorrow.
I wish it would end already, but i am afraid it will not happen this soon.

If that one rep was about to break down before at CES, I could only imagine how it would be after that.

Considering that the dudsters have a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday I doubt it. Of course we all know what happened with Warner announcement 2 days before the CES.

Wow that be a real dejavu if this news came out before the Super Bowl, would they cancel they're commercial or just go on throw they're hands up and say "I give up"

I don't know if they are going to cancel a $2.7+ million spot at the last minute (that number is just for a 30 second placement by the way. I don't know if their ad is going to be 30 seconds or a minute). But hey, you never know what's going to happen. Only time will tell.

HD-DVD has played dirty all along...

but if this does indeed happen, Blu will give them a taste of their own medicine by having wasted money on air time during the Superbowl...

People need someone to demonize, so since Kenny G has been so vocal in his support of HD DVD, he has become the personification of HD DVD to many people.

I personally think it will take only a few seconds for KG to turn this around (publicly, since privately it's no doubt already in progress). Specifically, it will take the amount of time he needs to say words something like this: "While we initially were strong backers of HD DVD and believed it offered good value to the consumer, we at Universal believe in listening to our customers, and what we have heard from them is they would like Universal movies available on both formats..."

Then a few months later, he can say something about how they have carefully monitored the sales and the clear message is that consumers have chosen Blu-ray.

That's it. He doesn't have to quit, be fired, or be beheaded. Honestly, I think people get a little goofy about these things.

I guess it could happen, but Graffeo would look quite the (even greater) fool if he stayed aboard after Universal begins supporting Blu-ray. I mean he spread so many lies and FUD that it would look beyond ridiculous if he still stayed aboard. But, who knows these days.
