Default Shallow Next-Gen Games

What's with all the next-gen games being so short? I mean for PS3 and 360- Gears of War and Lost Planet were about 10 hours? Resistance was 15? Motorstorm has only 8 tracks? The PS3 version of tiger woods had like 10 less courses than all other games, even PS2?!? I'm sure there are other good examples as well.

It doesn't bother me all that much, because there is alot with online play-- but why?!?! Especially with blu-ray, you figure there would be tons more gameplay?

Is this just because they are early generation games? Will this change in the future?

All first gen games are shorter because the developers are pushed to get the games out.

FWIW, Crackdown on the 360 is quite short as well. If I hadn't been taking my time to "level up" my abilities, I could have beat it in probably 5-7 hours.

I don't think all that much has changed. SSX at PS2 launch only had about 6 courses, Halo only lasted about 15 hours.

But as long as it's fun enough, I don't care and I'll replay that portion of content. Having said that I do expect MotorStorm 2 to have many more courses and modes but I hope they can improve the other mechanics of the game enough that it feels fresh, not just a content expansion.
