I have a 52xbr3 hooked up to a Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1. The picture is incredible. Even the up scanned standard DVDs look great, but once you watch a Blu-ray movie you never want to go back to watching anything but Blu-ray. Love it, watching Casino Royale tonight.

I have a 60" SXRD-XBR2 and it looks phenominal with PS3 and Blu-Ray. You need to make a few adjustments with the black tones but the TV allows you to have different settings for HDTV, DVD and PS3.

Late at night with the lights out (how I usually watch HD or play PS3) it is absolutely vibrant. However, throw in a BD movie at 2:00 in the afternoon and it will blow you away also.

And I agree, once you have BD on a high def TV, you really don't want to watch much anything else.

As much as I enjoy my 40 inch XBR2, I would recommend waiting if you can. The next generation LCD's will come out with a faster refresh rate (120 Hz instead of 60 Hz) and that will make action movies look less blury. This improvement will solve a key problem that people have with LCD's today. I believe this technology is just a couple months away (120 Hz, maybe HDMI 1.3, and maybe a much higher contrast ratio too (10000:1)).

The LCD technology is very good today; however, in a few short months it promises to be that much better.

The XBR3 is a great TV, and I've heard nothing but excellent opinions from 52" owners at AVS (I've owned a 40XBR3 for quite some time now, and it's marvelous of course). The 52" can accept 1080p through component too, unlike the smaller 40 and 46" sizes. (Not that it matters much for blu-ray.) The great thing about this series is that it's excellent for use with PC too. I have absolutely no complaints.

I've been thinking I was the only one that had one of these. I got my XBR3 for 2,000 last November when all the new XBRs were coming out. Anybody know where to find good settings for the TVs?

No, but I have the 52-inch Sharp Aquos. To me, it looked just as good as the Sony. Don't tell anyone.

I had the 57" Aquos and then after about a month and a half I called Magnolia Hi-Fi because I couldn't watch the 1080P from the Blu-Ray player I had just bought. They even sent a technician out and then he tells me that it isn't a 1080P tv. Since they sold it to me as one they switched it for the 52" XBR3 for free. I think the PQ on the Sony is much better than the sharp was.
