Default Sony XBR3 question....1.3 HDMI

hey guys

im planning on getting the sony 46 XBR3 LCD TV but had a question...

i have a PS3 & its time to get the true full experience of it...now the question is i know the PS3 already come with the 1.3 HDMI but ive noticed the XBR3 doesnt have 1.3.

now do u think later on they will add some sort of add-on so that i would down the road be able to equip my TV with 1.3? or do u think i should hold off abit longer to get a sony TV that comes with 1.3 HDMI?

I spoke with a Magnolia rep. the other day. He said that the XBR3s made after January have HDMI 1.3. I doubt that information was correct, but you could go to Sony Direct's website and contact them directly.

I do know for sure that the 70" XBR3 will have HDMI 1.3. Personally, at this stage, I would wait for TVs with HDMI 1.3.

Since your going for the best quality, take the HDMI cable with you to the store and try to plug it in to the TV that you are interested in. If it fits, it's safe to say that it would work.

The PS3 is HDMI v1.3 capable; however, at this point in time it does not mean much. The cable is the same, because I have a v1.3 HDMI cable for my PS3; but the XBR3 that I have is only HDMI v1.1; no difference. Eventually; probably within the next 2 years, we will see fully compatible v1.3 electronics; but even so, they will not mean much for the current market. All v1.3 does is support higher bandwidth speed, deep color, broader color space, and new lossless audio formats.

Obviously it is alot, i just meant that right now it does not make a difference. HDMI v1.3 televisions will be out later this year, but their functionality will not be utilized for probably another 2 years or so.
