Those of you with Home Beta, don't forget to log in tomorrow, sony is trying to get as many of the beta testers to log on during this special event to test the system and show off the new enhanced features in the update. I'll be there. If you have home look for me PSN Name: AlienHeadBoy

Except the Sims is a game and this is not.

To me, Home is just like an internet/forum, but instead of browsing around, you walk around. Pretty much.

Pretty much, because it won't be 'free' literally. You'll pay for it, indirectly most likly. As Sony will use royalties from game publishes, revenue from hardware sales, etc to actually cover the cost.

It's just not directly paying for it, like you do with Live.
And the Xbox is SO bloody much cheaper because you pay for the cost of Xbox Live directly??? Oh, wait a minute... once you add in ALL the functionality which the PS3 has built in, it pretty much costs the same... interesting....

IMHO, it is freakin' free enough!

Hehe, it was a rant, that really had little basis in the thread, I concede. Just frustration from my job as I explained elsewhere, coupled with getting the new issue of Wired today [interesting articles that state what has been known since ... umm pretty much ever, but oh well :P].

First of all, the boat has sailed. The internet revolution has allowed the hermit phenomenon to flourish in the cities. BUT for those in rural, unpopulated or inaccessible areas, social networking is a boon that augments, well, their social network. Home will just add another dimension to this.

I think my Home will be rated NC-17.

Pretty cool screens. Now they need to put a release date out. I really want to try Home out.

The first thing I'd do in Home is to setup a Home Theater system complete with 70" plasma to view my HD camcorder "AVCHD" files on. I hope that will be possible, since you can already listen to mp3 in your Apartment Home.

70"?

If you ask me, that's pretty hardcore for your HOME-space.

It shouldn't be too long now! They did say it will have a spring release. That's just around the corner!

I used to interested in this, but I don't play video games on my ps3 anymore since I bought an xbox360. I think is extremely overrated and trust me you will be paying for it. Like almost every item you get is gonna cost money.

Home is FREE. As for items, only the ones that cost money cost. Otherwise there are free ones.

Speaking of overrrated, the xbox360. It's always being brought up in PS3 forums where it shouldn't belong.

Yea. There were words of an open beta coming, but who knows. They've been doing closed beta testing for almost an entire year now.

Actually, I won't be paying for it since the service is free, just like I haven't paid a penny for online multiplayer on my PS3. And a 360 guy that thinks Home is overrated? Shocker of the century right there.

Anyway, to anyone interested, here is a GDC 07 walkthrough of Home by none other than Phil Harrison. You'll need Quicktime. If anything I recommend checking our the Trophy room and Hall of Fame at the 80-90% mark. Absolutely bad ass.

The better way to see this, imagine you want a white sweater and you notice that your virtual closet doesn't have a white sweater.

Imagine J6P would notice that I want a white sweater, sony will sell them that white sweater for lets say .50, J6P thinks about it goes koolz and buys it.

I think Micro transactions will be what pays for home, we will just have to see on how they do that, just like the playstation store, there are free things and there are things that aren't free but nothing is ever forced on the user.
