Does the PS3 have a light synth program for music like the 360 does? Does anyone know?

nativaly i do not know but there yellow dog i have seen it done

Yup, it's a more modern-stylish 3D looking visualisation, a bit like procedurally generated hills scrolling towards the screen if I remember correctly. There's another that's basically just the XMB background 'mercury cloth' brought forwards and made to react to the audio.

Nothing like Minter's spliff-induced-madness that everyone's seen a thousand times before in countless media players.

Yes, since day one and anyone who has played music on it will know since it starts by default but you can leave it and search the XMB.
