I agree with most of this. I would say I'll miss seeing how much fun Favre had out there, but I wouldn't call him the best QB ever.

Joe Montana makes a case for it, but so does Unitas, Tarkenton, etc...

he is def in the top 5 but just wait...... start of the season when lose there first 3 games he wont be able to hold back and will be back on that field! Im no greenbay fan By the man didnt really wanna retire its his WIFE! why retire when u are healthy!!!! By no means im not a green bay fan so i dont care LOL

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to football, but Brett Favre's been around for about as long as I remember . . . it's a shame he never won a Super Bowl. I was really pulling for them during the playoffs.

Yes, I think he was definitely one of the greatest QBs... and I think it was a good decision to retire now, on a high note. Rather than going on a decline and retiring when things were going crappy. Good move in my opinion. I've always like Favre, he doesn't seem to have the attitude and ego like a lot of NFL players have these days, just plays for the love of the game. You certainly can't argue about a QB who's 38 years old playing like he has the last year, very impressive.

I think Favre's had years where he's been as good as any QB who's ever played... I also think he's had years where he's cost his team games. I think he's one of the best who's ever played, but it's almost like there's an * there because he's also cost his team at times.

I'm surprise at the relative even-ness of this poll!

While I do believe he was an extraordinary QB who became the face of a league and of a little known city in Wisconsin; honestly sometimes I was just over-Favre'd - what with John Madden fawning over his 1 o'clock shadow (haha, I just thought of Frank Caliendo's impression) and the constant retirement talk - I will miss seeing him play football, but I won't miss him THAT much enough to say 'oh noes!!!'

Oh, first ballot Hall of Famer, no doubt.

I feel like he's the best ever. He's got a superbowl. 3 straght MVPs (95-97) and has the record for just about every QB stat that matters. I do admit that he can be a bit of a gunslinger and cost his team some games here and there but has risin to the task more times than I can remeber.

Hey, when you live in Minnesota, you gotta be a Vikings Fan tried and true. There's no room in my heart for the Packers, nor Farve. Hopefully the Vickings can have a great year with his loss.

He won't go down as the best QB to play the game. He was very good and no doubt a hall of famer, but not the best ever. Granted he holds many records (the consecutive streak is by far the most impressive) but he also holds the record for most INT's in a career.

Not the best ever, but damn close. He will be missed dearly, but it really was time. The only way sticking around would make sense is if he got to the Super Bowl next season, and it just ain't gonna happen. Good luck, Aaron Rodgers.
