Default Extras on Independence Day Blu-ray

The soon to be released Blu-ray Movie of Independence Day will have some amazing features in addition to the main feature. Here's a link to 3 seperate segments on the creation of these special features, by the creator himself.

Enjoy

I don't think HD DUD's extras ever came close to this, and probably never could have. Evolution is a great thing.

To be honest these so-called COOL features doesn't even come close to what I have seen in many of the HD DVDs. You will soon realize how FOX has smartly screwed us by not giving the actual FILM extras.

I think that the DVD extras will be ported over to BD and they provide enough material for ID4. But those who've had the DVD over the years are unlikely to revisit them again so heavy emphasis on them would be a mistake.

I don't usually watch the extras but if it's a movie I really like and they do something a little different, I'll usually at least check them out. Anyway, looks good so thanks for the link/heads-up.

Having finally seen the video blog by Scott, I'm fairly impressed with the work that Van Ling produced! This is next gen BD-J programming! If his work catches on, that will be a great boon for consumers.

I have the Jap edition. Forget these interactive games.

So how long will it take for us to realize that Fox has smartly screwed us by not throwing the film extras. The HDD review is perfect.

Bravo Bracke.

Wow, looks like we have our next "Dave Mack" candidate. Posting the same thing in the news, starting another thread saying the same thing and mentioning the same thing twice in this thread. Congrats on becoming the next "Dave Mack".

Yeah, it's just too bad some have to go on campaign against it. Hopefully they don't deter too many from seeing what he's accomplished though.

Yes. I will keep posting the same thing because I pre-ordered ID4 for $35 and landed up in shock after seeing no film extras.

For a catalog title at this price point I was expecting FOX to include all the special features in 1080i/p in the U.S version.

Now it has become clear that they have rolled out the same stuffs.

Dude, please let it go. Its getting old. We see it in almost every post of yours. OK. We got it. You have stated your opinion. No need to keep driving it into our skulls.

Also, the use of the word "Jap" is slang and probably not appreciated by some. (Yes I see where you are from.)

I have the DVD - didn't watch the extras on the DVD, don't plan on watching them on the BD...so I don't care if they are included or not.

If omitting extras makes it possible for the PQ on the movie to be better, that's a very easy choice, for me at least.

From what I can remember, the extras on the DVD are in SD because they were shot in SD. If you need to watch them or have a copy, get the DVD version.

The extras on the UK Disc are..

1. Scene-specific commentary by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin.
2. Audio commentary by Oscar winning special effects supervisors Volker Engel and Doug Smith.
3. High Definition trailers of FOX titles.
4. ID4 datastream triva track (watch film with pop-up factoids and intresting notes).
5. Keyword search (Locate all your favorite scenes and charactors in the movie).
6. Alien scavenger hunt java game.
7. Bookmarks (Set and jump to your custom markers in the movie).

you know there is nothing wrong with wanting it all. Reading your other thread with all the various releases you bought of ID4 it seems you want that Ultimate Edition Blu-ray. There is a small problem that you and others sometimes dont understand, the studios are not obligated to give you anything more than the best possible PQ and AQ. Everything else is marketing. You don't like it, don't buy it. If you got into Blu-ray thinking that every release should have all the extras than you are going to be dissapointed.

Unfortunately, a studio like Sony doesn't seem to feel obligated to do even that, with their choice to prioritize providing "added value" extras at the expense of optimal bitrates on the movie itself. I wish the people at Sony would take a look at the superlative PQ on Fox's "barebones" releases.

ID4 was one of the most brain-dead cliched hackfests I've ever sat through. Does the Blu-Ray edition come with a filmed apology in 1080p?
