Independence Day on Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

Picked it up on Blu today here in Norway and had a fine evening with it

Quality was superb as expected from Fox and I didnt have any problems playing it on my PS3.

Really looking forward to picking up Commando and Predator second week of January here in Norway also.

Hope you all have a great christmas even if you celebrate or not.

Lucky you! This is one of my most anticipated titles but it looks like I'll have to wait until March 08 to get it. Oh well, good to hear that they did a good job with it.

Mine is in the post apparently. Only one more chance to get it before Xmas. As A Fox title I would expect nothing short of perfect

Hmmm, i though it was quite unimpressive with very poor sharpness and color. Maybe thats just me.

Fox made a good decision by delaying Independence Day until March so that no flaws or glitches will be in it. I'll just sit patiently like a loyal puppy and wait

Well i have to say i think ID4 looks great on blu, great sharpness and good colors, i was impressed, a solid 4.5/5 i whould say :P

I saw Independence Day yesterday, well I wasn't that impressed with the PQ, some scenes were looking great while others were soft or full of grain. But then again it's a movie that is 12 years old so it is not new anymore. If you keep that in mind then it won't disappoint you. But don't expect PQ like Casino Royale or POTC. I would give the PQ 3,5 (maybe 4) stars out of 5.

I actually liked the "GINO" film a little (as been labeled by most Godzilla fans), I just think they dropped the ball at making a Godzilla movie.

I will pick up ID4 AND GINO if the PQ and AQ are good.

The European version of ID4 may not look good but lets wait and see what the American version looks like.....probably better

I doubt the encode will be different at all. Just different extras. (PIP etc)

It'll look the same, but it looks really good. Considering the amount of traditional sfx, PQ is excellent. Obviously it doesn't look like POTC.

Now the film itself... Since this is not going to be a blind buy for anyone, I'll keep my opinion to myself.

This movie is just like the Day After Tomorrow... great for an hour and then horrible for the other hour.

But I will check it out just for the initial alien attacks :P

Well just do like Highdef digest and compare it to the latest DVD version, you can't be worst than that. Really. I mean he did that for BR and gave a 5/5...

I haven't seen BR, i'am pretty sure it's superb for BR, as Warner is really good with their 'Classic' catalog title, but it's better than 07 title... humm i don't know. I'll buy it soon anyway
