Yes, the 3D in Silent Hill 2 3D was great.

Off topic, but How would you feel if they continued their original plan to convert Dawn of the Dead into 3D? It'd have to be strong 3D, but I'd be thrilled to see it happen, as the 2D version will always remain intact.

Silent Hill 2 has a stalking villain that is after Heather that adds some mystery to the film.
Good to hear. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I do hope that it shows up at BB early.

I'm all for it. ( Dawn 3D ) It won't change my thoughts on the original film, and if it paid off, it would just be another version to love! I think we spoke about that in the Dracula 3D thread a while back.

$22.99 is the 2D version at Amazon, $29.99 for the 3D version.

Good memory. I haven't heard any news on a 3D release for that Dracula 3D since its premiere with Argento and his daughter Asia.

It's got a review up at AVS. They tore the film apart on itself, but it got high marks in the 3d and a/v department.

The 3D in this is quite spectacular to say the least. Loads, I mean LOADS of foreground placement. It's not pop-out but a lot of stuff is way outside the screen. STRONG 3D in this one.

See for yourself:

Well damn, that review just confirmed my worst fears. US fans are getting totally shafted. Missing the commentary, the deleted scenes, and instead of the hour-long making-of on the French version it's three measly minutes. Pathetic.

Let's just hope the French release isn't ACTUALLY locked to Region B so we can import... I need to see those deleted scenes, damnit!

Thanks for the input and the trailer srinivas. I enjoy the depth in a 3D blu better than pop outs.

Thanks for the heads up on the review at AVS ZOMBI3

Given that the French release isn't done by Universal, I would say it's not very likely to be Region Free since most that aren't owned by the same studio everywhere aren't Region Free. Obviously I can't know for sure though.

Indeed, that's exactly what's got me worried. The original film's awesome French release was from the same company and that one wasn't locked, but there's no telling if they've changed policy since.

This is available this Tuesday at Best Buy exclusively as reported above, so this is an unexpected early bonus. But it does stink we didn't get the deleted shots and other extras in other versions.

Is there commentary on this one? I hope so.

The 3D, again, in Silent Hill 2 had some of the best I've seen in all of 2012 in theaters.

Sean Bean plays a small part, but adds a lot to most films he's in. The main actress, also did a respectable job with the role she was scripted to play.

The creatures definitely caught the look of the Silent Hill games. I think the fact that you're playing the Silent Hill games gives them a little more horror edge.

Like in Silent Hill Downpour 3D (PS3):
Exiting the fog filled town plagued with wandering demons, I approached a rusted building and crawled into the basement. Inside, it was mostly dark but for a few light bulbs, with tools spread about, wires and household objects lining the brick walls.
Up ahead and down the hall, there was complete darkness in the farthest room. As I approach it, there are signs that someone was here, with scribbled paper on the table, litter scattering the floor. The growing sounds around me indicate something sinister may be nearby.
Reaching the dark room, suddenly a shriek from behind startles, and an evil, dark entity suddenly attacks. The sense of dread takes over as I try to fight it off.

Pretty neat game, but I have yet to finish it.

I think movies like the Shining, Pet Sematary, The Exorcist, and a few others capture that rare trait of dread better than most other movies. I'd love to see them in strong 3D one day.

It does not have the commentary.

Here's the "Look Inside" featurette, aka the only real special feature on the US disc. It's just marketing fluff. Super disappointing.
