Sound Distortion

My roomate just bought a ps3 and he is having a problem with sound distorting in his tv speakers and surround sound speaker but it only happens when playing games not watching blu rays or watching tv. has anyone experience this yet?

I had this problem -- turns out it was the internal volume on the PS3 (which can be accessed by pushing triangle while watching a video)... feeding too much volume to my receiver. Try that.

i've had that problem before, I just had to restart the PS3 and it was okay.

I have had this problem playing music from CD or the hard drive for months!!!! Couldn't work out what it was, untill I read this post. You have saved me a lot of money, as I was about to take to my PS3 or Yamaha RX-V1800 with a hammer
