Default KDS-50A2000 vs KDL-40V3000

Hey all. A friend of my parents is thinking about getting one of these 2 HDTV's. He asked me which one I would reccomend of the 2 and I said the KDS-50A2000, but im still not sure which one would be better. Hopefully you guys can help me out some by saying which you would rather, or which one is better. Thanks.

I had a 55A2020 (same as 2000 just black bezel). I had 2 optical block failures in the first 6 months of owning this tv. Rear-projection tvs in general have a much higher failure rate than LCD sets. In some cases as high as 18%. Sony SXRDS tvs are known for their optical block issues. Buyer beware check out avsforums.com for more information. I would say the safer of the two with superior picture quality would be the LCD.

On the first kdl40v2500 I got, the HDMI ports didn't work, but they worked fine on the second one. So don't worry about failure rates and what not. In my opinion, the kdl-40v3000 is a very nice tv. The black levels are greatly improved over my 2500. If the people who are buying the tv want a larger screen, definitely get one of the newer models instead of the a2000 series if they want a sony.
