It's main downside is the fact that it uses BlueTooth technology, and none of the universal remotes that I am aware of can do BT. There are a handful of IR remotes for the PS3 that use a USB port. That might be a better option if you eventually want to go with a universal.

Actually I wouldn't call the remote being Bluetooh a downside but an advantage. With IR you need line-of-sight for it to work but that's not true with Bluetooth. They should simply do away with IR and make everything Bluetooth. Also, I don't care about lighted buttons, they distract me... I simply remember where the pause, play and stop buttons are.

So what you're saying is that in your opinion it's a great remote--and his opinion is different?

I like it...better than using the controller. I have no issues with it, I do like it being Bluetooth as someone else posted. You don't have to point it at the ps3 that way. It does have all the buttons on a ps3 controller...don't see why it wouldn't work for the games

I need one because you cant access any blu-ray movie picture colaberations with the ps3 controller. like the ones sony has on all if their disc that require you to enter some numbers.

I really like the remote. I do have a Logitech remote (550) and I'm going to get the adapter for it eventually so I can use my universal. I do like having the security of having the official remote though. Besides, the remotes are fairly inexpensive, I see the BT ones for around $19.99 on Amazon, or if you're a like me, I bought the remote for $24.99 at Target when I bought my PS3.

The remote is great, but I went through hell in my first few times watching movies with it because I couldn't see in the dark and hit stop instead of pause. Or I would jump chapters in place of rewinding... annoying to say the least.

Once you get the hang of it, its very useful.

That is incorrect.

While playback hit triangle and a menu will appear there are numbers highlight them and then hit x... "7" "6" "6" "9" and then highlight enter and hit x.

I've seen a IR remote on amazon that is all black and illuminates but after reading the reviews I decided not to get it. Alot of people said it's not at all like the picture. It's shown in gloss black and when they got it, it's a cheap spray painted black. Some even seen run on and clumps.
