Default Good News: Paramount finally got off their behind

As you may know Paramount’s HD-DVD and Blu-Ray releases are handled by other companies such as 1K Studios of Burbank, California. However, in the past few weeks, there has been a great deal of confusion and uncertainty. 1K Studios specialized mostly in HD-DVD and HDi. After the Toshiba announcement, they were forced to lay off a few of their HD-DVD experts and retrain some of the workers to program in BD-J. Many of New Line titles were also handled by 1K Studios. This added to their uncertainty as New Line was absorbed by Warner.

Now the good news:

Paramount finally decided to get off their ass and make a commitment to Blu-Ray. I heard that about 10 movies were submitted for production. The Transformers is one of them and probably the only one with market potential. Since they had already done the production for HD-DVD, most of the work for the Blu-Ray release has to be done in BD-J and high resolution sound. The movie will probably get released in the next month or so. Of course, many of you may know that Michael Bay likes to get involved in his movies and I have heard that he can be a bit finicky. My best guess as far as the quality is concerned.

Picture Quality: Probably the same as the HD-DVD release. They will probably use the same master.
Java stuff: Nobody knows
Sound: Most definitely better than HD-DVD. Either PCM or Dolby TrueHD.

Thought it might be an April Fool's Joke. Then again, his time zone is still March 31st.

Well, I'd like to believe it... but it is April Fool's day (or right around the corner anyways) and the pranksters are out in full force.

How did you happen to come across this information? Your neighbours, cousin's, step-father's, co-worker's, babysitter's, mother was walking her dog and the little yapper picked up a conversation taking place in the Paramount head office meeting a mile away and relayed the info back to its owner???

Yeah, it's going to be difficult to believe anything today.

Obviously you don't use names. But, just saying something like "an individual that works in the programming department for Paramount home distribution material" is non-disclosure information that makes your claim much more sustainable... if at all believeable.

Yes, the person works in one of the companies and I don't want to create a problem for him or the companies involved. Either way, it is not important if people don't believe me. I just posted this because I thought many members were interested. I personally do not care much for Transformers.

I'm very interested and I pray your source is right I love Transformers but it just seems kinda fishy because it is around April Fools Day.

It was already stated by an insider that before paramount pulled the plug on blu-ray last august, transformers was already authored. it had a blu-ray specific AVC high bitrate encode with pcm. so you fail. so it will be better than the hd dvd version.

There is nothing wrong with the current encode on the HD DVD. Both PQ & SQ are top notch. The SQ is easily amongst the best and puts titles with lossless audio to shame. The ABR for Transformers on HD DVD was 21 Mbps which is on par with top rated titles like POTC. I wouldn't mind picking up Transformers on Blu-ray if it boasts superior PQ and SQ.
