On my ps3 i have tried various BD movies but the picture is still the same. a quarter of the picture is ripped off and slapped at the bottom, therefor creating a 'topsy turvy' kind of effect. the picture is also in black and white and not colour. my tv is a technosonic and is HD ready. i dont use a HDMI cable but i understand you dont need one to watch BD movies, but only if you want the full 1080p resolution. any help would be much appreciated.

well I've never heard of this. Have you checked all your connection settings. Possibly you have something labeled as HDMI or something. I hope this problem is only temporary.

i use a scart lead to connect. do you think if i buy a hdmi cable and configure it, it might fix it. i know that sounds like the obvious option but does anyone firmly believe it will?

do you have the cable connected correctly?
and im assuming you have a UK PS3? does it have an option for "Cross Color Reduction Filter" try enabling it. Settings - Display Settings - Cross Color Reduction Filter - Enable ...this is the US way to get to it, not sure how it is for the UK (or if it even applies to SCART connection?) HDMI is not essential but it would give you a better picture especially if your TV could do 1080p. Looks like your TV set has some kind of syncing issue. HDMI may fix this problem as well (but cannot say for sure).
