Default Is NBK really the next Warner coffee table release?

A pic was leaked a couple weeks ago (below) I think, was it all baloney? Any news about this release at all? Could the pic be fake?

Hopefully Warner will scrap the idea on releasing coffee book editions, but that is just my opinion.

i really like he idea of he coffe table releases, however i think they should also offer a seperate Non-coffee table release too, for a cheaper price. However, I think we have ye to see 2 different BD versions released on the same date as each other.

i agree, i would want standard cases from warner.. not these cheap cardboard case which worn out fast. At bb, the bonnie clyde packge look worn out and bend, people there dont care if they dont buy it and damage it by putting it back..

They were planning ten of them I believe. The whole dimension of the coffee book is out of whack with everything else. In addition, it looks flimsy (like one of those cheap picture books that you can buy for $1)

I dont like the idea of Coffee table releases. atleast for this kind of movie. "Hey kids, lets read the story of 2 psychopathic killers and their path to fame." I'm sure my friends would love for their kids to see this laying around.

Yeah, I think the coffee book cases are almost as bad as the cardboard Warner DVD cases of old. Man I hated those, I sorted DVDs by studio for a while because they throw off your whole collection.

Here is what is currently known about this release:

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=1191

If it isn't a coffee table book it will be something else. Studios use packaging to make certain titles standout among the hundreds of other titles on retail shelves. Changing the dimensions of the packaging draws consumers eyes to it. So you are fooling yourselves if you believe that all releases are going to initially be released in a standard BD case.

As a movie enthusiast if it helps sell more copies then I'm all for it. The better these classic titles do the more classic titles will be properly remastered and released. I'm willing to sacrifice packaging for more classics.

They don't come with a book, the packaging is a book. The tray for the disc is glued to the inside back cover. Unfortunately, if the spindle breaks, the packaging is useless to protect your Blu-ray investment. Furthermore, the pages are so small you'll need a magnifying glass to read any meaningful content. The packaging is miserably thought out and executed. I hope it is abandoned. I will not buy any Blu-ray packaged in this style case. Hopefully, these titles will eventually be available as standard keep cases here or abroad. Sorry Warner, but this lame brain idea is only marginally better than those cheap snappers you forced on us a number of years ago.

Fine. Just make it better. Universal did a terrific job with the legacy releases. I still don't like those VERY fragile disc trays.

There is absolutely nothing about this style of packaging that makes it "stand out" on a display rack, other than its cheapness. I suspect that had little to do with Warner's decision to foist this idea on consumers. The DVD "snapper" cases were strictly a cost motivation. I believe Warner either owned or had an interest in the production of those abominations and I am suspicious of their motivation here as well..

Well, we don't have any evidence that this style of packaging will sell more copies. The feedback I have read at various websites including Blu-ray.com is largely negative. So if anything, I would argue that it may negatively affect future sales.

Really? I thought that is why everyone is complaining. Everyone seems to be upset that it is an inch taller and isn't uniform with their collections. Sounds like it stands out on their display racks so why on Earth wouldn't it stand out on retailer shelves.

Maybe not this style of packaging but special packaging in general does which I guarantee you is why WB is doing this. What other incentive is there for studios to release stuff on BD and DVD in special packaging?

Believe what you want but I still believe WB is trying to draw people's attention to older catalog releases. I applaud them because I want more classics released. Not only released but released with care which costs money. It isn't going to happen unless people start buying them.
