So does anyone buy DVD movies anymore now a days?? I hardly ever buy DVDs other then anime & foreign movies since it'll be a while before these companies move over to Blu-ray.

sounds really good but even if there was no HD DVD i still think it would take more than three years. I can still find vhs in stores so somebody must still be watching video cassettes. Besides you have to have a HD TV first and not even half the people i know own one let alone a ps3 or a blue ray player and these people are the same age as me. It will only happen when there is a clear winner and these goods are either forced on people due to lack of support or at price they cant refuse.

I know what you mean, almost all my movies on blockbuster are Blu-ray rentals... the only time I rent DVDs are foreign or anime... I just wish Blockbuster stores would start picking them up as well in my area, sucks to wait on long queues on-line.

well netflicks is good as they have everything but if you like b&m, hollywood video stores has Blu-ray, blockbuster lost me as a customer a long time ago, weak selection, poor service, long lines and they are axis of evil when it comes to returning videos on time, its all about netflicks. I have always been happy with netflicks so much that i will not even look at the online version blockbuster!

You can't beat Blockbuster's deal though, 2 movie rentals on-line, trade-in for another 2 movie rentals at Blockbuster store, 1 free movie / game rentail per month, just can't beat that deal... but I agree, the service is not that great. a few times I never got my movies in the mail and the queues are just horrible on-line.

I haven't rented or bought a DVD since I bought my PS3 in December. Many millions of the people who have bought HDTVs still haven't bought a Blu-ray player. The surface has just been touched in this market. When friends or neighbors happen to see a good Blu-ray movie at my house, they always basically say "wow, I'm gonna get one" or (more say this) "wow, I plan on getting one once the price comes down a little more". I still think it strange that someone who pays big bucks for a quality HD television or monitor hesitate to pay relatively small bucks for a Blu-ray player. But things will pick up speed as Blu-ray players continue to come down in price and as soon as it becomes apparent to more people that Blu-ray has "won" and is the new standard. Share your Blu-ray joy with your friends. They need to learn that that HDTV isn't only for watching sports and Lost! Make some converts. Once they try Blu-ray, they'll never go back to DVD.

This wouldn't suprise me at all. I think it would take a little longer than 3 years though. But you never know with technology. Thats a big statement made by Frank Simonis.

I totally agree, especially in the projector market, i dont know about anyone else, but i have noticed a huge difference in this. Especially in the color. As you say, The surface has just been touched, just imagine whats coming.

Yeah crazy. People are dropping 3,4,5k on a t.v.

To put it in perspective I could have bought FIVE PS3's for what our T.V cost. FIVE

That is the entire world market. Maybe they are talking about just the US. It took DVD 15 months to ship 100,000 units of a title and 2 years to sell 1,000,000 players. It is possible. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes! I still buy "normal" DVDs.
Usually in the Bargain Bin for $5.99 - $7.99.

Great to buy the cheapos and just rip to laptop HDD for those times I am bored.

Yeah, I buy BDs too, gotta love this VAIO laptop!
