I placed an order for the AVP 2-Pack. Though I'm prepared to be somewhat disappointed in Requiem, I'm on a mission to own every Predator and Alien movie good or bad.

some of it was bad I liked the second movie and pred 1 the rest were kinda quick buck movies, but the killing is way better in this one then avp1, it just sucks cause they are trying to build the movie like people care about the people in the story so at some point you'll be like Oh I cant wait to see them get it lol, killing is better story meh coulda been better some of the best parts we never even got more than 1-2 minutes of like the fight when the ship crashes, or the preds home world instead they waste there time with a pizza manager or some kids keys get lost ... all and all it was better then 1 and a step up in some cases...
just gotta go into it like this little guy -> lol

I seem to be in the minority but I didn't feel like the humans were focused on as much in this one. Still significant but not the main story-line. To me, it felt more like just a predator vs aliens movie with humans occasionally getting in the way (basically being in the wrong place at the wrong time).

Edit: I'll watch the theatrical version soon and see if I change my mind on that after a 2nd viewing.

Will do. If anything they make for great mindless entertainment. You're talking to a guy who owns Stealth for chrissake.

I was expecting a real turd of a movie from all the reviews but hey I liked it. It was very dark and hard to see in spots but I thought it as good if not better than the first AVP movie.

Let me just say...wow. I don't want to overstate this, but this is one million times better than the first one. I am massive fan of the Alien series, and to a lesser degree the Predator series, and this movie was excellent.

I can't comment on PQ and AQ, because I missed out on the Amazon deal, and just rented the DVD, but I'm going to buy the blu version now.

I loved how it paid small homage the previous movies. Like the "get to the chopper" line, and when *spoiler* When the chopper was escaping the explosion, roughly the same orchestral score was playing in the background as it did when the dropship was escaping the atmosphere processor in Aliens. *end of spoiler*

Also the last scene in the movie was great, and I hope other people made the connection with that woman's name lol.

5 stars and I'll suggest this movie to anyone.

I think I missed a lot of the little things like that. Guess I need to watch it again. I need to anyway to see the theatrical cut.

yeah I just hope they keep trying to improve the series , id rather have a movie start out crappy then try to fix the story and make it better than have a good movie (aliens) turn to crap with the other releases

*spoiler* It was the gun that the predator had used the whole movie and that the main character had used towards the end and gave up to the army guys after they found the group of people that had survived the helicopter crash. The guy who gave it to the woman was the Colonel from the movie, obviously, and the name Ms. Yutani has relevance to the first 3 Alien movies. The company is called Weyland-Yutani and plays a role in all 3 of the first Alien installments. Here is a link to read more about them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weyland-Yutani *end of spoiler*

Yes, I'm a bit of an Alien nerd. lol.

Lots of discussion about AVPR being so black. If you watch the bonus featurettes, you will see actual footage from the movie that has not been processed for final colorization (black-level/contrast enhancement). The scenes are extremely luminous and bright. Clearly, the directors decided to post process the movie into its very dark final presentation. That being said, I would have preferred to have seen the overall black level cut back by 10 to 15 percent. Clearly, the darkness of the movie enhances the scare-factor. I really enjoyed AVPR much more than I had expected. The sound quality in this movie is wonderful.

watched it in the theater and liked it... much, much more than i did the first AVP (which isn't really saying that much, but still...)

although, watching the delivery ward scenes with my then-very-pregnant wife made me squirm more than just a little.

I was even kind of surprised by
[Show spoiler]the kid having one burst from his chest but yeah, the pregnant lady becoming an incubator for the aliens and having them burst out of her was even more surprising. Also, in the past, the aliens haven't placed more than one in a person have they? In this one, it seemed like they were coming out in 3s.

Yes, I'm a bit of an Alien nerd. lol.
It seems I missed a lot of the subtle points. I wasn't sure what was up with that either so thanks for the explanations.

Excuse me, Marcus...but I need to say this to you:
[Show spoiler]In the opening shots of AVPR, the Predator ship was out near Saturn. Then a shuttle craft was launched and it went back to Earth, subsequently crashing there. Why did the shuttle craft go back to Earth in the first place? Did they forget something?

Got my copy yesterday and man you guys weren’t joking when you said it was dark. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that dark at the movie theatre. I had to fiddle with the contrast in order to see/enjoy the flick.
