Yup! MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and AVC are supported under the Video icon. I've not tried a non BD VC-1 encoded video I must admit but I don't remember it being listed as supported on the online manual.

Try downloading any of the HD trailers off Apple's website.

Then use QTime to change the .MOV container to .MP4 or use YAMB to do the same. It'd take 45 seconds to change the containers. Transfer the file to a flashdrive and bring it over to play on the PS3.

What, so you can drag videos (MPEG'S) over to a USB flash drive?

If the flash drive is big enough, yes. Otherwise use an external HDD.

It doesn't play all the supposed MPEG4 formats. A friend has a DVD from a dubious source that is in MPEG4. It plays on his MPEG4 compatible DVD player, but the PS3 won't touch it. Format unrecognised is the error (or something very similar). It will play all the Blu-ray MPEG4-pt10 otherwise known as AVC.

I would love it if the PS3 would play DivX.

use this website to convert them into MPEG-4. Copy the URL into the box then select what you want the video to be downloaded to. eg: psp+i.pod.
