Whenever it does come, you can count on there being plenty of rereleases. I don't know if there was a more rereleased movie on dvd than these. Regardless, I'd probably buy both when they're released.

Not a fan of the 1st movie, looks like a shit student film and never scared me at all. Huge fan of the 2nd Evil Dead and own ot on blu, but I will never touch Army Of Darkness unless it's the FULL version, not the crap U.S. theatrical release. Sticking with the Hong Kong DVD until this happens.

Even though all three of those films are really stupid, I'd rather get Army Of Darkness because I think it's the best one (IMO). Part 1 & 2 is just crap because they're just trying to prove themselves and make money as college students.

Would 1 and 2 even benefit from Blu-Ray? I rented these late last year and the DVDs look TERRIBLE even on an SD TV IMO.

The masters of these movies are not in great shape. And the movie was not given royal treatment when it was made either so they won't benefit much from Bluray. I won't upgrade to Blu this time. Besides, I like my latex Necronomicon cases much better!

yeah I have those too, kinda dig the cases. The one I'll upgrade is AOD for sure, but I will only do so if they release the director's and theatrical cuts.

Yep, these things rock. The grey one even screams when you poke the eyeball! I make it a point to watch them every October for Halloween and usually one or two other times during the year!

that's probably what they mean, as far as I know, there's only 2 versions. The director's cut - a darker ending, which had a limited run of 3 DVD releases (this was discussed in another topic thread, universal i think?) and the theatrical with the S-Mart ending.

For me, I'd like a release with both version on blu.

Army of Darkness

There are 3 versions.

1. The Theatrical, 2. Directors cut (with 20 mins of extended and extra scenes - its not just the ending) 3. Extended Directors Cut (as seen on the R3 DVD) - this is basically the directors cut with a producers gag thrown in - an undead rips the shirt off a screaming woman.

Both movies did great jobs with such low-budgets (first film had a budget of 375,000)

I haven't seen the way the HD-DVD version of Army of Darkness looks, but I have been wondering about its source. If it comes from the same source as the Region 1 DVDs, isn't it very possible that it won't ever look as good even in HD as the much improved Remastered MGM version that is only available on Region 3, even though that DVD is only in SD?
