Default How are format neutral owners transitioning to Blu-ray?

With V for Vendetta as well as all the Paramount titles coming on the 20th and June 3rd, I'm just curious as to how many will be replacing their previously hd dvd exclusive titles... I am replacing V for Vendetta as well as Face/Off, and will continue to replace most hd dvd titles in my library with the blu-ray version as they come out with the exception of some comedies that are not likely to receive much of an upgrade...

I am replacing my HD DVD's. I can't get my player to work (surprise surprise) and haven't used it since October of last year (except once to watch Cinderella Man, and it couldn't play through the title). I figure when I get them on Blu-Ray, they will work much better (and in the case of Universal movies, some Paramount and The Perfect Storm from WB, look better).

I actually checked to see how much I would get if I sold them to Best Buy when they had their trade-in offer going on. For 72 HD DVD's and an HD-A1, I'd get a total of $126 if I remember right... For some reason, that just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Having owned over 200 HDDVDs back in the winter, I sold all of it once I heard the Warner annoucement(early Jan) and switched to Blu. I will replace the titles which I liked and deem re-watchable.
I have actually made a list of these movies that I need to buy again in Blu:

Universal:

Serenity
Bourne Trilogy
Eastern Promises
Atonement
The Kite Runner
Lost in Translation
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Children of Men
The Thing
Pitch Black
40 Year Old Virgin
Knocked Up
Dawn of the Dead
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
King Kong
The Pianist
Mulholland Dr.
Elizabeth
Pride and Prejudice
Battlestar Galactica
Dune
Casino
Fast and the Furious
Meet the Parents
Meet the Fockers

Warner:

Matrix Trilogy
Batman Begins
V for Vendetta
Constantine

Paramount:

Transformers
Sweeney Todd
MI3

I am keeping mine unless they are released with a massive increase in audio/video quality. Or unless I can sell them off to friends for a good price and get the replacement for about the same price.

I have around 10 hd dvds i got for around $10 each and a toshiba hd player i bought for $90 here in oz. I'm still undecided what to do with them all and the player, i do plan to replace majority of them to blu. Where's the best place to offload these things? trade in or ebay?

Some of the movies I listed I would like to see a new video transfer for(ex Lost in Traslation), but it seems they'll be adding lossless audio to the majority of their releases, so all is well.

It's a shame Universal (or Warner) aren't doing new video transfers or higher bitrate encodes for Blu-ray.
They seem to be going for lossless audio but not looking at better quality (and higher bitrate) video

Yes, but my point was that Universal aren't increasing the video bitrate (or doing better video transfers or encodes). If Warner & Universal increased the video quality much more I might consider re-buying the titles I have on HD-DVD but not Blu-ray.

I'm replacing all my HD DVD's that have an equivalent encode to Blu-ray but this will be a slow process as I will only sell off the HD DVD copy when I find killer deals on Blu-ray. I don't mind dollar or two upgrades. Some aren't worth re-buying, those ones go up for sale. For the ones where Paramount/Warner Brothers gimped the Blu-ray copy, I will be skipping them and keeping the HD DVD version. I will be selling all my Universal titles one by one as they come out on Blu-ray just for the lossless audio upgrade. (again, only when I find a great sale!)

Good thing I know a few HD DVD owners who never seen them lower then "Worst-Buy" pricing.. They love buying them used from me at $13-16 a pop.. I also eBay the ones they don't want. Good thing most of my HD DVD's came from BOGO sales or I would just keep them!

I live in a big city and still nobody wants them. I've posted them on Craigslist and had two people interested but they both fell through... go figure!

I did that too (except I never had over two dozen titles). Though it was with a heavy heart that I resold Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Casablanca.

I got the add-on for 360 along time ago and never used it but bc of the low low prices and hd-dvds death, I won an auction on ebay for 9 hd-dvds for 21.75 lol. 7 of which were unopened, I watched 1 of them to see the quality and I thought it blew the audio was dirt crap. The bourne identity looked good but sounded so bad, good thing that add on was a gift if id have wasted $199 or even the $50 for that hunk of crap i think id shoot myself lol

note* I was going to buy more but the audio on almost all on all of them are like the DD+5.1 which really blows cause the 2 ive watched have sounded like shit.. those 9 were worth the 21.75 because they are ones only I'd watch so the 2.41 I paid for each was worth it in a way lol

no wonder hd-dvd lost terrible product

Keeping mine, until there are better video transfers. If there are just ported transfers i don't think it will be worth to replace them.

just my 2ct.
