I would have liked the series finale of Angel if the show was really supposed to end...

Are you referring to the way the ending was composed or the fact that Tony got whacked?

Breaking Bad gets my vote. It was way too clean. It just didn't feel plausible at all and continued the show's long stretch of character inconsistencies with Walt.

Talk about extraordinarily high standards.

I was shocked by the confusion about Lost's ending. Jack's father even explains the show in the final moments. "Everything happened, but now you died. Everyone else eventually died too, some before you. Some after you. Now you're all meeting here to let go and move on". That explains the timeline and flash-sideways stuff.

Shocking how many people thought they all died on the original flight.

I absolutely LOVED the series finale of Angel. One of the best series finales of all time in my opinion. I don't think they could have ended it any better.

I also thought the ending to The Sopranos was great.

I keeping seeing this in the thread list and thinking it's the Happy Endings thread, lol. It had an untimely, but not unexpected, death, without a proper ending. Still, I guess it's not a bad ending, but there was also no sense of closure unfortunately.

I always find it amusing when people want everything spelled out to them than complain when something IS because they didn't understand it at all! I'm also someone who likes endings that big groups of people don't. Maybe because I'm more inclined to allow the writers of the stories to well end the story the way they wanted. I loved the ending of Battlestar Galactica and was shocked at how many just hated it!

What didn't you like about its ending?
I didn't like the Wilson cancer storyline.

OBviously because the show was cancelled in January, they had to rush to make the final episodes work.

The Harry Houdini escaping the back door of the burning building trick was outrageous, but I did like the closure for his minions.

I actually would've preferred something else on the outrageous spectrum, which would've been House's last enlightenment would be figuring out the cure for cancer or AIDS.

King of Queens - A horrid failure.

Lost - A rushed attempt to tie up all the loose ends.

Whatever issues the Lost finale may have had, being rushed was not one of them. The producers knew before starting production on the last season that it was the last season. So they had 18 episodes to work with to tie up all the loose ends.

Roseanne - Just a terrible final season overall, and an infuriating finale.

As the TV Guide special put it, "I think we had to put a moratorium on 'dream' endings after St. Elsewhere, but the Roseanne episode clinched it."

Actually they knew since season 4 how many episodes they had left. In season 3 they made a deal with ABC for 60 more episodes. Nothing was rushed. Any problems real or perceived were a result of the writers choices not a lack of time to deliver.

This thread reminds me how hard it is for show creators to please the fans. I haven't heard of a Series ending that a majority of the fans liked. I loved the endings to Lost and Fringe, but a lot of people didn't. I was let down by the endings of X-Files and Angel. With Angel it felt like the show was going to continue. I guess the show creators wanted us to speculate at how it ends.

Batman beats all of them I reckon , it went out with a wimper instead of a bang......s3 was like a flacid balloon , all the air out of it

Burt Ward : "The show sank in un-creative quick sand"

Other than The Sopranos, how many shows ended their run in a speculative fashion?

It would have continued if it weren't for Jordan Levin, who canceled the show because Joss asked him for an early renewal based on the ratings going back up.
