Post PS3 problem

Has anyone ever had it stop recognizing discs? I put in Twister, did nothing. Switched to I, Robot nothing. Put in Sliders Season 4 nothing. Put in a PS2 game nothing. It just sits there. Nothing changes it just doesn't recognize the disc is in at all. Help!

Had this happen on Friday night, after I put in I am Legend, I tried the compressed air, and resetting the PS3 default settings, but in the end I had to call Sony and will have to send it in for repair or replacement. I'm just praying i can find my receipt for the one year warranty, but it sucks this happens after only owning it for 4 months

Bricked means that it is useless and won't do anything. The disc drive just died. It's not bricked.

no... his disc drive just stopped working.

Call up sony - they'll repair it if its still under warranty. If its not, then it'll be 150 bucks.
I dropped mine off a shelf while unplugging the ethernet port (forgot to push in the little... pushy thing that needs to be pushed.)
Fell - smashed (literally. The front of it smashed off, and the power/eject part of it was completely shrivelled up). - Called sony - They send me a %100 ocmpletely new console. It was 150 bucks, but still... thats damn good service.
Microsoft would probably say "What!? You dropped it!? Hahaha. We cant repair that. Go buy a new one, idiot". .

Point is - You probably need it repaired.

Yeah I've had mine for just under 6 months. I've been reading forums for the last hour and a lot of people seem to be having this problem. I called them and I guess I will be sending mine back too.

Thanks for the responses.

I've had my 60gig for 16 months now. 136 Blu-Rays, 22 games and no issues so far like this. So far. Man, I'd be bummed if mine got pooched. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm one of the unlucky ones that the same thing happend. If you can't find your receipt and you bought it on a credit card just get a copy of that statement and highlight it for them. Luckily sony isn't anal about having the receipt...good luck...
