You guys seem to think Warner will put effort into this. Knowing Warner's track record, it's just going to be the same disc as before just in a new package.

Hope not. This is the 75th Anniversary of Batman this year (of which otherwise WB and DC is making a big deal out of). I hope that counts for something when they decide how to handle this edition.

This is literally the perfect time to release Mask of the Phantasm in a remastered Blu. Heck, get the SubZero director involved who has a 16:9 version with 5.1 that WB appeared to have forgotten about when it came time to do the DVD.

Always interested to see what WB has cooked up for a re-re-re-release.
Knowing me I'll bite on shameless package grab.

I'm hoping for an Ultimate Collector's Edition. That would be amazing and I think this movie definitely deserves one.

Yep, no way they are going to do a new transfer. The current transfer is not bad actually.

To be honest, I don't know how much clearer of a transfer we even want. Some of the F/X, notably in the final confrontation with the Joker, are not aging rather gracefully.

While the original version should always remain available, I actually wouldn't mind it if they did a semi-"special edition" of sorts and re-composited some of the original elements with newer technology. I know, I can't believe I am saying it, either - but that last scene is just so incredibly jarring to me in it's current form in HD quality.

I'll put myself in the corner now just for suggesting it, I deserve it.

Well, it probably looked even more jarring in the theaters with 35mm film projected onto a large screen. I also think this movie is just naturally drabby and soft looking - never going to look very good.

That's exactly what I was thinking (Argo/Citizen Kane/The Town). That kind of packaging would be sweet.

There isn't much more they could do to include new special features. The last editions pretty much covered it all.

The only other thing that would make it a worthwhile purchase, is a new 4K (6K or 8K) transfer. Considering how important this film was for Warner Bros. at it's time, it is possible they may actually be doing a proper upgrade to this title.

And what, no Batman Forever 20th Anniversary Edition?

Batman Forever came out in 1995 so it's not time yet.

Well I got the digibook back in December at last, but I would be willing to double dip if WB goes all out. It's the 75th anniversary of the character! There has to be something special!

There was nothing special for Superman last year and it was the 75th anniversary of that character. All we got was a short little animated featurette on the Man of Steel bluray. That's probably the best they will do with Batman.

Id like to see the digibook comic separate from the case, with the same yet updated but not overdone packaging with useless trinkets like repilca Joker cards and Vicki Vale investigation notes. And each disc have proper trays w no stacking or cardboard sleeves.

Hopefully it's a brand new disc, not just a repackage

It's most likely just going to be some new packaging.

Well there was Man of Steel and Superman Unbound to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of Supes, two movies. Even though I thought MOS was a poor way to celebrate.
