Default Samsung LN32A650 or Sony KDL32XBR6??

I am adding a new tv to one of our bedrooms. I am torn between these two, the Samsung LN32A650 and the Sony KDL32XBR6. Which one is the better of the two sets? Right now the main use is just for Directv. However I am sure one day it will have a blu-ray player hooked up to it. Both feature 1080p. To bad neither of them have the 120 mhz motion feature, because I would love that feature to be included!

how much is the samsung one?

If it is about the same price as the XBR, XBR all the way. I'd consider samsung if it is priced a couple hundreds cheaper.

I would read up on AVS Forums for this type of info. No offense to the Blu community but that is a much better tech site. Personally I had 2 XBR4 units one with heavy clouding and another with a strange line of dead pixels through the center (both returned). I ended up landing on the Samsung 5281F and could not be happier. I like the picture on the Sony....but a marginally superior picture does nothing for you if your set is faulty..also the auto backlite adjustment is very distracting and can not be fully turned off. I would do some very heavy watching of both. Bring a USB drive with some test patterns to your local BB even if not buying from them and give it a test.

both sell for 1199 each. The samsungs are nice, but Sony also does produce a great set. Such a tough decision.

haven't seen the Samsung to compare, but I do really, really like the XBR6. The specs look good on the Samsung too.

I know a lot of people who had the same issues with the XBR4's
The XBR 5's did not have the same issues..
The Samsung you mention is far and away better than the original XBR4 set you had but other than the LED back light I feel the XBR5's still offer a better overall picture... JMO

I sell both Sony and Samsung. We have both sets mentioned on display and they are both good preformers for the price. I would suggest you also look at and consider the new panasonic TC32LZ800.
Currently available for $999.99
1080p and 120hz as you requested

I would 100% agree that the 81F is better than the XBR4..I was implying that the XBR 5 & 6 may be marginally better...but who knows (I'm not a fan of Sony's punchy pastel colors). It's good to know that Sony picked things up with the XBR5+, given all of the issues they have had dating back to the XBR1 and XBR2 (rear projections). Have not had a very good track record with the XBR series from rear projection to LCD. Either way you slice it you will be getting a great set.

Default xbr!

you get the name of xbr, cinemaflow (120 refresh rate), and a better contrast ratio. XBR all the way

on a side note for the same price you can buy a 42' 1080p Panasonic Plasma

I've got the 46in 650 and to me it's the best TV I had/researched granted this is before the XBR6 came out. Great thing I love about this TV is the picture is awesome, no bugs for me anyways and if you go over avsforum there is owners thread and calibration thread. I used one of the setting off of there and then went out and bought the DVE bluray disc and basically wasted my money. Also there is a few tweaks you can do in the SM menu if your daring enough to get more out of the AMP.

Actually for those who say that Sony does have 120mhz, yes they do but not on their 32" models. Neither Sony nor Sammy have 120 on the models below 40".
Personally i'd gor for Sammy.

I believe that the Sony panels are made by Samsung. Could be wrong though. Both are good TV's. My opinion is that the new Samsungs have darker, richer color to them then the Sony. The Sony picture seems to be bright. But that is just my opinion.

honestly I think you'd be just as happy with the Samsung A450, I sell tv's and both of those sets are great but I wouldn;t blow that much cash on a bedroom tv. I like the XBR tons but if its significantly more getthe samsung.
