Default Do You Want the Stickies returned to the Main Section?

What happened to all the stickies in the US forum?

Edit: Now I have to visit a different forum just to view 10 threads? I can't see this being a popular move.

Default Stop tinkering please

I don't see the need for a Studios sub-forum. The Criterion thread specifically gets more traffic than any other thread here from the looks of it, so boxing that up into another forum is poor and unnecessary choice.

Do developers want to make tings more difficult? Because that's what creating an unnecessary sub-forum does. If you want to tidy up the stickies, then remove some of the less visited ones, but don't just cram them all into another forum making it more tedious to see updates.

Exactly, it's so stupid.

Wow, I was so confused when the mods moved the Criterion Thread; I will miss how easy it was to get to, but I'll get used to it.

The stickies in the main US Blu-ray forum were getting out of hand, 16-20 stickies in a forum is too much. In the main US forum we would like to stick the most popular general threads and the currently most discussed/hottest titles (like it was 2-3? years ago). Having the Criterion Collection thread stuck there would make sense and possibly Scream Factory and possibly Twilight Time, but where do we draw the line and how do we avoid favouring any studio(s)? That was why we created a sub forum for specific studio discussions. It's not set in stone and we might revert it, but we would like to try it at least.

I think I speak for pretty much everyone on this board when I say please move the stickied studio threads back to the US forum. I appreciate attempting to minimize the number of stickied threads, though - how about making the stickied area exclusively for studio threads, and de-sticky the 'Recent Haul', Bought/Watched', 'Custom Cover' and 'What are you watching tonight?' threads, as they get assumedly less traffic but are updated frequently enough that they don't need to be stickied? I can understand keeping the 'Helpful Links' megathread compendium and 'Giveaways/Contests' threads stickied though.

This decision makes sense to me, especially if some of the non-stickied studio threads get moved into this subforum.
  1. Code Red Blu-ray Discussion Thread
  2. Echo Bridge Entertainment: The Official Thread
  3. Vinegar Syndrome Discussion Thread
  4. Warner Archive Collection Discussion Thread (Blu-ray)
  5. Shout! Factory Discussion Thread
  6. Severin Films Discussion Thread
  7. Drafthouse Films Discussion Thread
  8. Full Moon Features Blu-Ray Discussion Thread
  9. Grindhouse Releasing Thread
  10. Mill Creek: Sony Pictures Releases Discussion
  11. Warner to Take Over Distribution of Part of Paramount Library

Sorry iceman, didn't see your post when I made mine. I'd say keep the three most popular studio threads stickied - Criterion, Scream and Twilight - along with the 'helpful links' and 'contests' threads as I suggested earlier, keep the other studio threads un-stickied in the US forum, and abandon the Studio sub-forum altogether.

Normally in pretty much all forum designs, you want to stick the most frequently used threads. Having small studio threads that most members don't read/post in -or probably don't even own a single title from- in the main Blu-ray forum is poor design imho.

I certainly understand not having all the studio threads stickied -as I suggested above, perhaps keep the top three ones stickied? - but why not just un-sticky the others then, as opposed to forcing members to travel to a new sub-forum forum simply to view a handful of threads?

I think it's a good move. Of course it will be a little different , at first, but I think the pro's outweigh the con's here.
Are you going to do the same for the dvd forum?

Many of the smaller studios are interesting threads, but if not stuck they would drown and disappear in the main Blu-ray forum like the ones zbinks posted about. By having them in a separate forum it's much easier to find them, but at the cost of having the absolutely most popular thread (Criterion) moved away from the main Blu-ray forum. Like you said an alternative would be to only have top 1-3 studio threads stuck and let the rest drown, but we would like to experiment with a studio sub forum at least. After using it a bit and we feel that it's worse than before we'll just move it back

I was thinking about that, but I hesitated because I wasn't sure if DVD active members wanted those threads in the DVD forum or in the studio forum. What do you think?

I like the new changes in the North American sections, looks a lot better instead of a cluttered mess of sticky threads. Plus it brings some exposure to the smaller studios.

Is it really that painful to click on the studio sub forum?

I hope you do the same with the UK section.

This, but maybe limit it to 2 or 3 lines. So many sigs seemed to be filled with line after like with the most mundane crap such as "titles I've pre-ordered" or "games I'm playing" or "my home cinema set up".

Keep that stuff to the dedicated threads.

Oh I'm good with whatever you decide, I was just wondering if you were going to create a studio sub-form in the dvd forum.
I guess, the dvd forum doesn't have the amount of traffic the BD forum does...so it makes me wonder if anything needs to be done?

I just wish somebody could clean up the wishlist forum!
I offered to help do this, as much as I could being a member, as there are so many now-pointless threads in there because the films have been released on BD. Then the trick would be trying to keep up with the merging of wishlist threads(or deleting) when/if the BD thread starts. I guess the wishlist forum will, forever, be the redheaded stepchild of this site.

I'd rather they were kept in the DVD forum - combining BD and DVD threads in one forum will just make it a mish-mash, with half the threads being of zero interest to BD-only members, which I assume make up the vast majority of posters.

PLEASE don't - one additional sub-forum is only slightly painful to click on, but two (in effect doubling the forums I have to browse in order to be updated on US and UK releases) would be a genuine headache!
