I read about the same article. I've been hearing that a price cut will come before the end of this year, but sony has yet to confirm a price cut of any kind.

Apparently it is for Europe only so I expect some sort of EU constitution propaganda myself!

Seriously though - it is good that the PS3 is starting to pick up exclusives, not only because they sell games, but it help devs better understand and tap the PS3's potential. I will definitely put this in the rent column for now.

As for a price cut, Sony will definitely have one when they have a hardware refresh, 65nm Cell/XDR/RSX, cheaper BD drive, cheaper HDD, less cooling required, smaller power brick, all-in-one wi-fi/BT/LAN module and a cheaper manufacturing process has already been implemented so I expect a price cut to £329 for the UK, €449 in the EU, $449 in the US and 45,000 JPY in Japan. All this by October and announced at the Tokyo Game Show which has always been a happy hunting ground for Sony in the past.

I actually took into account the removal of the Core SKU and a price cut on the Premium and Elite.

Sony will have to cut to at least $450 to remain competitive over Xmas, anything more than that and MS will beat them.

As sad as it seems, people don't care about Blu-ray, they only see the price difference between the PS3 and the X360. Sony must remain competitive if they are to keep any third party exclusives.

The PS3 doesn't have a power 'brick' to shrink down, I guess you meant the internal power supply is shrinking/using less components to reduce costs?

Yeah, and that will also reduce heat output and in turn the amount of fans/active cooling required.

I think that at £329 in the UK (quickly cut to £299 by Tesco!) the PS3 will win Xmas, especially if the rumours are true and PES07 is much better on the PS3 and includes more game modes because of the BD drive. I still don't know that many people who like the X360, sure they have one, but they don't actually like it because all of the games are based around US gaming tastes and very few of them are tailor made for us Brits or Europeans. Also you have to take into account that Sony basically built the EU gaming market with the PS and PS2, so there is still a lot of brand loyalty in Europe, add in a general resistance to US companies on the Continent, the PS3 is very well placed against the X360 in Europe (which EA says the biggest battleground will be this time around, he is right, 500m people in Europe).

Does anyone think if I ask really nicely they would bring Warlords Battlecry III or maybe 4 to the ps3 or how about Dark Messiah....

Figured I'd ask.

I think Ubisoft has the RTS and FPRPG love that ps3 needs.

My opinion of course and not a probable fact.
