Hey All
Yesterday, I finally bought V FOR VENDETTA on Blu-Ray. Awesome movie, and been waiting for it for a long time. I tried to access the PiP feature on the disc, but nothing happened. I then went to the Sony website to see if there was a firmware update I could download. There was. I downloaded it, put it onto a CD, then put it in the Blu-Ray player (a Sony BDP-S300) and updated it. Update was successful, and I even went into the system menu and saw that it had happened. And yet, I still can't access the Pip feature of the disc. Can any of you out there help me out? I'd hate to have to scrape together a few hundred buck and wait till there's like a $400 2.0 Profile player available, after I spent $700 on one about a year ago. Peace |

im almost positive (98% sure) that the bdp-s300 does not support 1.1 features. and why did you spend $700 on a bdp-s3000, msrp for it at the beginning was only $499

Well...the BDP-S300 is NOT a profile 1.1 player, so you can't access the 1.1 features. I hope you didn't pay 700 dollars for one, when it was 500 dollars when it came out. You will need to buy either a PS3, a Panasonic BD30/BD50, or the new Samsung to access those features. The PS3 and the Samsung are the cheapest of the choices at 350-400. |

I actually have the same player as the OP but I had problems playing the movie itself. I put it in and it loaded and then as soon as the movie started the player restarted. I tried it three times and it did the same thing everytime. I wonder if it is my disc or there is something wrong with the player.

So I'm guessing I can't access any PiP features. And since I'm not a gamer, I'm not going to get a PS3.
Unless if anyone knows if I can take my BD player to BestBuy or FutureShop for a hardware update, I think I'll wait for the $350-400 STAND ALONE 2.0 player to come out later this year, and either pawn it for the money, or just give it to my folks. I'm hoping that if I get a good paying, concrete job, that me and my brother can buy for my folks a flat screen for my folks for Xmas. |

Also, not to mention the PS3 is currently the only profile 2.0 player out until the Panny BD50 hits I believe. |
