Default Beowulf in 3D

Do you think it will ever hit Blu-Ray? It was pretty cool in theaters.

It was AWESOME in 3D in theaters!
I doubt we will see it anytime soon, but if the technology that people are talking about comes to pass, then I wouldn't be surprised at all if it happens in the next few years.
In fact more and more titles are coming out in 3D than ever before, and although I think it is cool, I don't want everything to be 3D (still a lot to be said about 2D images/perspective).
I see 3D as a sort of revolution color had back in the day. Not as big of an impact since it has been around as a gimmick for so long, but it has so much more potential now than ever before.
It will take years for this to really catch on fully, but I think we will regularly see films made in both 3D and 2D, and by then, of course Home Theaters will support 3D, and movies like Beowulf will be there!
Bring it on!

They already said the way it was done can't be duplicated at home. So I'm guessing no.

Yes it actually can be

1080p/60fps with shutter glasses, but you need the right TV for it

it can because, as another post has said, if it is encoded into 3D in a different technique than what current HOME 3D companies use, they can convert it into their own technique. Most of those use either Shutter Glasses, or Polarized glasses (not many with polarized).
I am hoping that this does take off someday, but not too soon. I want to to be established by the time I get my next TV, but I don't want to be out-of-date that quickly

A 3D comb filter has nothing to do with 3D picture. It's an anti-ghosting tool for analog broadcasts

Your TV needs to be marked 3-D ready and have a DIN port on it for the glasses to plug into (and be 120hz)

The shutter glasses would be needed but that frame rate isn't right. Beowulf wasn't rendered with each camera eye running at 30fps. Both were rendered at 24fps and the JPEG2000 video material was stored on hard disc as 48fps data.

3D material on Blu-ray would need to be stored as 1080/48 data as well. You would need a TV with an adjustable refresh rate -one capable of 96Hz or 144Hz refresh. RealD in D-Cinema movie theaters operates at 144Hz. Each frame is triple flashed.
