Default Beowulf

I gotta say, I'm pretty PO'ed right now.

I just looked at fandango to see when Beowulf was showing in 3D in an IMAX around here (I'm in Houston). It appears as though Beowulf is already out of the theaters COMPLETELY!!!

Is this normal? It was just released on Nov. 16. How long do movies stay in theaters now-a-days? Now, there's a good chance I'll NEVER get to see this movie in 3D as I had hoped. Great!

I heard it was REALLY good in 3D. I just wanted to see it for its technological achievement. Especially after seeing Polar Express 3D and knowing the folks over at Sony Imageworks.

The title left because it wasn't generating money anymore.

Heck I already have an announced release date for DVD/HD-DVD here in the US, 2/26/2008. I'm prebooking the sell thru (for DVD) right now.

I enjoyed the movie, not sure how much productions costs were, but it certainly didn't do that well at the box office, I think it totalled out around $75-80M in the US.

I purchase product for a Blockbuster franchise so unfortunately going to another country to buy product is not a viable option. If it's not released by my distributor, my stores are out of luck.

Looks like this one got pushed out with all the big movies around the Christmas season. I Am Legend pushed it out of a lot of IMAX theaters. In retrospect, they may have made a mistake by releasing Beowulf when they did. If they had picked a slower time of the year it probably could have at least had a good run at 3D digital theaters, but from what I saw, it gave up its 3D screens to regular 2D movies for the holidays. If there was enough demand for the 3D version maybe it could get back some of those theaters that are setup to do 3D. Wouldn't shock me if it got put back in some of those 3D theaters in February, when demand for theater space is usually lower.

I love this film -- it's among my favorites of 2007, for all sorts of reasons -- but I will probably never be able to see it in IMAX or 3D.

Thank the Lord for the UK Blu-ray release.

I was never overly excited about this movie.

It'll be a Netflix HD-rental for me.
