OK TO CLICK ON SPOILER TAG: Nothing really worth worrying about, aside from the fact that I may have just set the record for Most Multi-Post replies in a single thread...

Same here, & the ONLY real "bomb" I can think of that was barely enjoyable/pretty cheesy, was "Cocktail", & his role in it. Plus, it brought us that Beyond Lame song, "Kokomo" (sp?) by The Beach Boys (& I'm a Fan of them/their history, contribution to music).

Lol - I Agree, sort of. Interesting that you mentioned Those 2 "actors" in the same sentence as "ACTING"

To Me, I could care less about an Actor's personal life, beliefs, whatever, as long as it's not affecting me, or the actor/actress is SUCH a complete Jackass OFF-SCREEN, that I couldn't watch a movie with them without thinking of those issues. My long-time friend is very political & because of Sean Penn's politics, he can't Stand the guy, plus not even PONDER the thought of seeing him in a movie. Same thing with Robin Williams (for my buddy). Since (for the Most part), Robin always seems to be "ON", (as in, NEVER acting Normal on a talk show, appearance, etc.), he can't stand him as well. --- I don't get it, but But, to each their own I guess

Pretty good, nothing great really. Obviously used to add Box Office, which not ALL movies do (some/many, sure - but there ARE ones that do it & it comes out Fantastic/adds to many aspects of said film). Just my $.02

The advertising for this film would have led you to suspect it would be a soulless sci-fi explosion fest but it's very much the antithesis. The action is there and it delivers but it's also purposeful and full of exposition. This film is full of soul, levity and character moments in nearly every situation. Christopher McQuarrie is on quite a screenwriting hot streak.

Groundhog Day meets Aliens is simplistic but apt although I think this film more than stands on it's own two legs.

Loved it and I'll be seeing it again very soon. (*bang*)
Yea, I'd agree with this & while I'm not sure what to vote above, I'm leaning towards a very Solid 4/5. I really enjoyed OBLIVION with him, while this one is Nothing like that (aside from the Sci-Fi theme), they used way too much Shaky-Cam & whip-pans in a lot of the action stuff that made it hard to follow at times.

Lol - that'd have been great. I wonder how many times he Could have said that in movies/tv shows since ALIENS. He Was Fantastic in this though. Best role for Bill Paxton in a while really. Cruise & Blunt were Great on-screen, excellent chemistry between them. Also, I LOVED the Alien design(s) here. Tremendous CGI there.

I honestly have no idea.

I can't even figure out where he'd fit in the film...
Yea, the ending was "ok" to me, not bad, not great, just Ok --- other than that (& the things mentioned above), it was a pretty enjoyable fun movie.

This is the one movie I expected to be mediocre at best based on the trailers. Boy was I wrong! In fact it's the 2nd best movie of the year so far for me, behind X-Men. The repeat days are done very intelligently, always keeping your interest. Also, Tom Cruise gives his best performance in a long time, and Emily Blunt is badass!

What I am about to tell you sounds crazy. But you have to believe me. You see, this isn't the first time I've seen this film. In fact, I've seen it more times than you can count. I know it stars Tom Cruise as Major William Cage, and I know he's sent to the front lines of a French beach invasion to fight the alien invasion. I know Emily Blunt stars as Rita Vrataski, aka The Angel of Verdun, and I remember her saying that what happened to Cage happened to her. I remember seeing Bill Paxton as Master Sergeant Farrell, and he was stealing every scene he was in. In fact, so was Emily Blunt. I remember being blown away by the action sequences, and the opening scene distinctly reminded me of the Omaha Beach scene in "Saving Private Ryan." I also remember being pleasantly surprised at the amount of humor in the film, and how it never felt out of place. I know the first time I saw the ending, it felt odd, but when I woke up, I looked back and realized it couldn't have ended any other way. What's the last thing I remember? Thinking that this was one of the best films of 2014. Time to reset.

Loved how they repeated the physique as an instrument of war motif for Blunt. That stuff is usually reserved for males.

97% 4 and 5 ratings That's what I'm talking about. I saw it for second time today cause I wanted to support the movie. First time was free.

Thumbs up

It is without the resonance and depth of imagination required to match, say, The Matrix, Minority Report, or Inception, but Edge of Tomorrow is still a very exciting, spry, and well-crafted science-fiction action film. Tom Cruise stars as Cage, Bill Cage. Despite the ass-kicking movie-star name, Cage is a cowardly and oily advertising executive who, in a world in which humanity has united to combat an invading alien force, wears a military uniform rather than a well-tailored suit to excel in his field. He is in well over his head when, out of disdain, a general conspires to ship him to the front on the eve of a last stand the against the dangerous, tentacled creatures. The film then shifts into a gear reminiscent of Groundhog Day as Cage, after an extra-close encounter, gains the supernatural ability to experience the same day over and over and over again, jolting to the prior morning every time he dies. He uses the time paradox to train alongside Rita, a fierce female soldier who previously shared the same power, played by Emily Blunt.

To be honest, neither Bill Cage nor Rita is a particularly rich character on the page, but the top-notch stars more than compensate. Cruise plays Cage as an anxious and charming individual who is exasperated rather than elevated by action, and Blunt is a sexy and strong presence, providing the forward-charging grit Cruise dodges in favor of a more unexpected characterization. Many people will no doubt enjoy the fact the female lead is the most capable and courageous character. Another surprise is the film's healthy amount of humor. Sure, it is serious overall and builds to an ultra-grim race to save the world, but along the way Cage's macabre predicament (dying again and again in numerous, often ignoble ways) is presented with a welcome comic touch. Factor in a tight pace and a few fantastic-but-not-overblown set pieces, and Edge of Tomorrow is a damn fine popcorn film which overcomes a few shortcomings and rubs, including a slightly ill-advised ending, a problem compounded by a downright awful choice of music for the end credits. It is also satisfying to see an expensive summer action film (a tent-pole release, as they say) which tells its story crisply and completely rather than functioning as a feature-length advertisement for franchise installments to come.

B+

Very Good review , but the opening scene 'distinctly reminded you of the Omaha Beach scene in SPR'? Hmmm, ok, but as they say, Slow Your Roll, son... --- I thoroughly enjoyed the film, but whereas SPR (70 Years ago Today!) was REAL-LIFE War, while being a Great opening war piece, EOT is inherently a Sci-Fi film, & a very well-made one at that. Not sure I'd compare it to the opening 23-min of SPR's Omaha Beach sequence though... That movie & that sequence in particular will wipe out & knock down even the toughest of men.

* (but I realize that's Your opinion as well ) *

Great review as well. And you're right; the Humor was tremendous (!), even though I knew/had read about it prior to seeing this today (IMAX-3D). The 3 Leads (Cruise/Blunt/Paxton) were Exceptional in their roles.

OMG, was 'Edge of Tomorrow' a great movie!! Fantastic story, fantastic acting and fantastic special effects. It's got humor (the laugh out loud kind), suspense, adventure, drama and, of course, sci-fi! Frankly, it's about as close to the perfect summer blockbuster movie as I think I've ever seen.

The Booth Bijou gives 'Edge of Tomorrow' 6 out of 5 stars! That's right, it's off the charts in the entertainment department! Go see it on a big screen with a great sound system!

Entertaining with a capital E! Freakin' awesome movie!

In case I haven't been clear, I LOVED IT!

FWIW, I saw the 2D version in a fantastic theater (reserved seats) with a HUGE screen and 36-surround-speaker Dolby ATMOS system!

One explanation ..
[Show spoiler]It would be easier to to convince Tom's newbies to follow Blunt's hero character that they look up to than for her to get her battle hardened group to follow thier plan. Just saying.
