Madden 09 - Michael Strahan vs. Brett Favre

Brett Favre, the darling of the NFL and also, Madden 09 cover-boy will be a playable character in Madden 09. Even though Favre is newly retired from football and is not playing this year (baring any major catastrophe to Aaron Rogers), Favre is still going to be included as a playable character on the Madden 09 roster in some form.

Will EA do the same for Michael Strahan? Only two days into his permanent vacation, Michael Strahan leaves behind a career almost as stellar as the Green Bay legend himself.

Here are a few of Strahan's accomplishments:

• 15 years with the same team (NYG)
• 141.5 Sacks
• Single Season Sack Record (22.5)
• Superbowl (against "The Greatest Team of All-Time" or what would have been the Greatest of All-Time.)

Not a bad resume.

I think that if EA is going to put Favre in Madden 09 as a playable character, they should do the same for Michael Strahan.

As a Patriots fan I've seen both of these guys beat my team in the Super Bowl, so it isn't like I'm biased against one. Still, to compare Strahan to Favre is a joke. Farve has most of the major passing records, and is a 3-time MVP. Strahan has the single season sack record, which Favre gifted to him in the last game of the season by intentionally giving up a sack. In addition, I don't believe Strahan is definitely done. If the Giants called him tomorrow and offered him the $8 million salary he wanted I think he'd strongly consider returning.

I think he will be included in some sort, as Madden games always have classic teams, and past superbowl champion teams.

But I also think you really cannot compare Favre to Strahan. He is not in the same overall ranking with Favre, not even close. Favre was league MVP what two years at least, and the best player in the league for at least 4 years, and the major reason his teams won superbowls (that is plural), where as Strahan was at best hanging on for the ride for the superbowl.

We also all known Favre had a big hand in that single season sack record.

To the last post, Favre was 1-1 in Super Bowls, Strahan was 1-1 in Super Bowls.

i think they should both be playable, with the addition that each can play each others positions. they will be dominate when playing the others positions as well, but have one fatal weakness.

For example, while brett favre on the defensive line will be super strong, fast, and a phenomenal tackler, he will randomly tackle his own teammate, which reflects his carelessness as a QB that often ends up in interceptions

Strahan on the other hand, will have a pass strength and accuracy of 99, but every once in awhile a dentist will have to be brought on the field, mid play, for a 5 second checkup to see if they can close the gap in his teeth.

This is a joke right? Although Mike Strahan is a great player, is not in the same NFL History as Brett Favre. Michael Strahan is an all-timer, but not in the top 3 at his position. #4 has every major career QB record, done.

Strahan has NEVER had anyone on the line with him that gave him help. He's been double and triple teamed his entire career. Yesterday, Strahan said on an interview on the NFL Network that he only faced single blocking his first season. What does that tell you.

Anyone that has any football knowledge knows that DE's don't get League MVPs. That remark is ridiculous.

He must have forgotten about this past season.

Because Justin Tuck had 10 sacks and Umenyiora had 13. I'm pretty sure when he was in there he faced some one on one matchups this year with those two racking up double digit sacks.

Favre is a Football God, but no way top 3. He was the master at imporvising plays. Why? Because he didn't read the play book or go to practice. That's no dig on Favre. That's just the way he is. That is his style. That's what makes Favre, Favre.

How can you not win if you know the defesive plays before hand. Let's see how Brady does without the def plays. He sure didn't know them in the Superbowl.
