Exclamation light bulbs cause problems for SONY-HDTVs

an HD tech just left my apt. he told me about a couple of strange situations where people could use there remotes during the day, but at night the remotes did not work. it turns out these people had energy saver light bulbs, which emit infrared waves, and interfere with the remote signal. he also said that in some way, Sony has admitted and addressed the problem. has this happened to anyone here?

These light bulbs sound like you only have to use them for 45 years before they pay for themselves...

Some high-tech stuff... I'll be keeping my eye on this thread.

No. They are priced reasonable. I got a nice deal on them at Costco. Probably cheaper at Walmart/Target. Also, they give of less heat. Great for the environment. Just a challenge with disposal. They contain mercury.

I had some "not work" out of the package, and others burn-out within a couple of months..... but I still get them, and haven't had any issues with them other than that.

I changed over the house to all compact floresent two years ago. One did not work out of the box, and another burned out becasue it was on a dimmer switch, Other then that, they have worked fine. Factor in power used for the AC on sweltering 100 degree days and it's even more then what it says on the package because you are not trying to cool down the house while white hot bulbs are heating the place up.

We have a newbie and an off-topic section. How about one for just green threads. A place for ideas that we can share to help each other save energy.
