Have you tried changing the video settings to "Just Scan?" I have a Samdung LED DLP 61" HDTV, and that's what I use to get the exact picture from the disc. If you have the video set to 16:9 it will sometimes crop a little bit of the edges.

Hope that helps.

What model set is it? If it's like mine it doesn't have the Just Scan setting and overscan has to be adjusted in the service menu. PM me about it, I'm not at home and don't have my bookmarks, but I've got some links from AVS that could probably help you.

I typed the model number followed by "overscan" into google and found some AVS links but there is a ton of info to go through.

Good Luck,

Brian

Try this... (at your own risk of course.)

RESETTING YOUR SAMSUNG DLP LAMP HOUR METER / COUNTER
Thursday, February 15th, 2007 @ 11:44 am
This is a quick reference guide to show you how to reset your Samsung DLP TV’s lamp hour meter or hour counter. Resetting the counter is a very simple proceedure.

Begin with the TV powered off.

Point your remote towards your TV.

Press:

Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.

Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.

Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).

NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can subsitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.

To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterwards!).

so dumb question,

whats reseting the lamp counter and what does it have to do with overscan?

or is that the instructions for getting to the menu and reseting the lamp counter is one of the functions in there?

I don't have that model display but I googled your model number with the term "Service mode" and then read a few links... That one looked like instructions for getting into the service mode and then resetting the hour counter would be something to do while there.

Anyway,.. thanks for drilling into my consciousness that I have nothing whatsoever to do.

Be aware, that Warhawk has a tendancy to do that regardless of your tv. i know 4 people that it did that to. Be sure you go to settings and fix the screen options on the Warhawk game...

No prob. I have a DLP also, but have never had the problem you are talking about, except for Warhawk and the occasional Cable company screwing with their signals...

I have two rear projection displays. Overscan is one of the drawbacks to these type of tvs. Typically you can expect to have between 2-5% overscan with any rear projection tv.

^^ Before eliminating overscan in displays, always test for 1:1 pixel mapping when the overscan is happening, because then, when you change the image size to eliminate overscan, you might lose the 1:1 pixel mapping and the image could end up being less sharp. (getting 100% of the sharpness and 95% of the image is preferable to getting 100% of the image but 95% of the sharpness in my opinion ) ymmv
