PS3 Turned on by itself - Blu-ray Forum

Out of nowhere my PS3 turned on by itself? I have no idea how, but last night I installed the latest firmware (2.36).. Does that have anything to do with it? Has this happened to anyone?

go set a copy of Ghostbusters (SD DVD) next to...maybe that will take care of it.

no way, mine did the same thing!

i woke up this morning and it was on, only thing that i could come up with was that i turned it on in my sleep.

Ghosts!
Normally this is due to the PS3 and the router getting confused by one another if you have it set so the PSP can turn on your system.

I was just on my laptop and I hear this beep sound that it makes when it turns on, and I'm all by myself and my controller light is off, so it must've just turned on by itself.. I guess it wants me to play

Do you have the PS3 remote control?

Any button press on it will turn on the PS3, and because it's bluetooth it doesn't have to be pointed at it (or even in the same room).

My PS3 was coming on "by itself" until I took the remote (which was on the couch) and put it on top of the unit. My hunch is it was getting accidentally pressed by various couch types (me, my wife and/or our cats) as we moved around.

I have the 80gig and have only had problems with Assasins Creed. I herd it's the game and not the system.

Your lucky all i can get my PS3 to do is sit, i havent taught him on yet.

Yeah, I do have the BD remote as well, but that was sitting on the table where it always is, and I live by myself, so I have no idea how it happened.

i don't have a ps3 remote, however i do have a psp that can turn the ps3 on through remote play.

somebody said that might have caused it.

now when i wake up one day and it has gone from laying horizontal to standing vertical, ill start to get scarred.

ps: mine can roll over

Oh really?, I have MGS4 in my system, but I had it in there since I bought last week, and it has never turned on by itself until this morning, so I was thinking it was the firmware update.. or there's a ghost of someone who wants to play MGS4 haha.

By the way, how's Assassin's Creed? I was gonna buy it a while back but never really committed to it..

Well, I sold my PSP about a month ago so that can't be it, but you might be right about the router, I guess it kind of makes sense.

If you flip the switch on the back of the ps3 this will not be a problem. I know the red light is pretty but not as pretty as the blue lights on the panamax power conditioners.

I better check when i get home to see if mine is on. I hope it doesn't start playing madden and ruin my winning record!

I doesn't matter weather you have the PSP or not.

The question is when you turn of the PS3 is the green wireless internet light on, on the front of the PS3
