Default Question regarding collecting TV Shows

Those of you who collect TV shows on BD, how do you collect them, combo or no combo? I've been collecting the shows I want to own as combo version, but I'm seriously considering just start collecting them as BD only.

I don't get the question, are shows usually released with BD and DVD versions as well as BD only? I have never seen that.

Anyway I get BD only. I have never seen the point of the DVD copy in any combo.

Some does, with the UV code in the combo versions.

first priority is the packaging of some like Game of Thrones, then next would be pricing if there are multiple versions, after that if it has some format of digital copy, but never rule out BD only as that is how most come out as.

With me it's Blu-Ray first, if a dvd set and a digital copy come with it great, if not, no problem.

If its been released in the past decade or so then I go for the blu ray as long as it is started from the first season.
Would love to pick up the US version of the office but they need to release the first four on blu ray before I buy them, hate the fact it's got only the later seasons released.
Although there have been a few older series released on blu ray like Robin of Sherwood (80s show), I've also heard that CBS are working on Taxi and Cheers for release on blu ray but I already have them completed on DVD so it's not a priority for me.

I get whatever is cheapest. Usually I get combo packs when they are available for $20 for under on black Friday.

I only care about the Blu's - anything that comes with a DVD copy, the DVD is given away. I don't need two copies of anything, and obviously Blu is going to be the one I want to keep.

I prefer simply to have the Blu-rays, but if it happens to include DVD's it certainly doesn't bother me. Price is definitely what dictates my purchases with TV shows. I typically only pick them up when they are fairly cheap, more so than movies. I do occasionally pick up older TV shows on DVD that my not be released on BD any time soon.

This is always the best approach to take.

I know many of you have a crazy hatred for dvd now but combo tv packs should be considered a blessing in my opinion. The more dvd folk buying combo packs, the better the chance that new tv show seasons continue to get blu-ray releases.

NCIS LA and Broke Girls are two examples of weak bd sales leading to future seasons getting dvd only releases.

Exactly, It now also seems that Fox is out of the BD game for TV shows so no more Bones, Modern Family etc.

Just because FOX stopped offering new seasons of a given show on Blu-ray doesn't mean they are out of the BD game.

I wish that people would stop making this blanket statement, because it's not true. Fox has stopped some blu-ray releases for the shows that don't sell as well, but Fox is also still releasing its more popular sellers on BD. Just to give a few examples, Homeland: The Complete Third Season came out last week, Sleepy Hollow: The Complete First Season is coming out this week, 24: Live Another Day is getting released at the end of the month, and American Horror Story: Coven comes out in October.

My mistake. I just remember seeing a thread saying that Fox has stopped all BD release's for TV shows.

That thread is one dude complaining about a few of his shows no longer coming out on BD. Why everyone keeps reading it as an official statement from Fox about all their shows is beyond me.

It really depends on my finances at the time. For example, I bought the first two seasons of "Person of Interest" as combo packs, and gave the DVDs to my sister. But with the first season of "Arrow", I bought the 4-disc Blu-Ray reissue at a $20 sale price.

Yup, not true - they've stopped on all shows except ones that are very very popular. So their support of BluRay for tv is now an exception rather than a rule.
