PS3 Firmware Version 2.4x - Blu-ray Forum

Sony is reported to be releasing Firmware 2.40 for the PS3 on July 2nd.

Here is a link to a video (part 1) with info on some gaming related updates included in Ver. 2.40. Here is Part 2 of the video.

There is nothing official yet on what Blu-ray Disc (or DVD) playback related enhancements may be included. We do know however that Sony has been working on an update to convert 1080i sourced video to 1080p and this may be included (or perhaps not until a later update).

I'll update this post once the new firmware is available for download and when the release notes are available.
