I've seen a bumper sticker that says...

The Best Things In Life Aren't Things.

Which could make some sense even though when you look right at it it's a troubled statement. First they are saying things then not things. How can the best "things" not be things?

Anyway,.. you may need more then a computer and a TV to find happiness.

Go on some Vacations man!!! Call in sick one day for work, for absolutely no reason.... (except the building workload makes me anxious!!!)

Everything isn't always what it is cracked up to be. I have everything I want; Home theater, computers, GPS's, 2 trucks (both paid for), boat, tons of dive gear, 2 beautiful grandchildren, etc... So why am I miserable, because one of my sons is always asking for money and momma gives in. I have 3 kids, 2 are very successful, and 1 that I'm ready to choke. Anybody want a 26 yr old son, he is free for the taking?

I wanted an HD video camera and got it a few years ago.
I wanted DVD's and have plenty I want to now get rid of.
I wanted blu-ray and got it last year. I wanted blu-ray movies and get them as they are released.
I wanted an HDTV for my room, so now I have TWO. One is the TV the other is primarily my pc monitor. So yeah, the desire of having two monitors is filled, but when do I actually use it?

I have had a Garmin GPS for 8 years but now I want a NEW one.

There is simply no pleasing the flesh.
Buy a MEXICAN Red-Knee Tarantula, they are excellent pets and very social creatures. If you get one dont let them jump and if you do, let them jump to the carpet otherwise their abdomen, which is fragile, will break.

Are you saying that you don't want or have any of those things?

I usually tell my wife..."Babe, I going to buy a new cell phone or I want a new TV or I am thinking about buying a new computer" and her response is alway"Babe, you have everything you don't need it"...end conversation.

My way out of that dilemma: Live each day to its fullest and try to learn/do something new. We need a challange, a creative tension to provide the impetus that keeps us going, as well as finding a balance between the positive and negative. Life with no carrot to run after means sitting in the same place in space/time with entraphy knocking at the door. We slowly wither away till the simplest thing becomes too much to bear.

Ancient Chinese thought is about balance and the unity of polar opposites such as black and white or positive and negative space. This should appeal to HDTV lovers - a good contrast ratio.

Another suggestion is to read a lot of books, like about one a month. We can only perceive world we live in by what we know.

The Easterlin Paradox
A concept in happiness economics - factors contributing to happiness. 'Does Economic Growth Improve the Human Lot?' People with higher incomes are more likely to be happy then their poor counterparts. But once beyond a certian point, the average happiness does not increase. "Happiness becomes geometrically linked to income. So to go from one to two units of happiness might take 10 dollars...to go from two to three units of happiness would take 100 dollars...Think about your television - chances are that five years ago you'd have been more then happy with it, but today, not so much. Nothing has changed about your TV, but confrounted by hours of brazen and subliminal advertisement for flatter, bigger, brighter ones, all of a sudden, it seems clunky" - Raj Patel, The Value of Nothing, pp36,37

The Core Human Drives - Paul Lawrence & Nitin Hohria.
1. The drive to acquire
2. The drive to bond
3. The drive to learn
4. The drive to defend

I believe that everyone is searching for something (happiness, fulfillment, etc)....I truly don't believe people will be happy until they have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

As for the head comment...lame.

I also believe that when you are doing God's will (as commanded by the Bible), He will bless your finances, personal relationships, and every part of your living. It works for me.

Is that based upon the win merely amplifying your behavioral tendencies? If so, I can completely believe that. Then it all comes down to what type of person you are.
