Default Buying a BD player.

Im new here so please excuse my ignorance of the HD/BD war.

My question is does anyone think that there will be an absolute winner? Or does it seem like we are going to have to take a side? I have been reading this forum for 2 days and I know most everyone here is pro-BD. Also, I do know that there is an LG HD/BD combo player. Most have said it's not very good.

I guess why I am asking is because Sony has put so much into the BD. On the other hand MS is a corporate giant too and they have invested largely in HD. To be honest I could care less either way. I just want a solid player that will play a good abundance of movies. ie: If I get a BD player does the future show it will have more movies? I am a Netflix guy so all I am going to do is mark the spot for either HD or BD. If it's BD then they will send me movies for my BD player. If they dont have my selection in BD then they send me the regular DVD.

Also, does the BD player do an upconversion like some of the new HD players?

Thank you in advance,

BTW, Please dont hate me. I love my Wii.
