If it was up to me I'd have one giant Best Buy store with me as the GM, and only members of our community would be able to shop there. It would probably go belly up in less than a year, but at least we'd all get our steelbooks.

I ordered mine online with an in-store pickup. Customer in front of me did the card pre-order and didn't get one. He got a refund. Mine was there on hold. Service person said they didn't get any of the card pre-orders, only online commitment orders. I did not understand that but am glad I got mine!

So I did a preorder last week for in-store pickup in Huntsville, AL. It showed available for pickup today, but I was a bit worried based on this thread so I went on over and got it.

The associate at the pickup desk said there might be a problem as they didn't get enough disks. But then it turned out they did not get enough to honor all of the in-store preorders with the cards, but they did honor the preorders on-line for in-store pickup. So I got mine.

She said that the warehouse just sends them however many the warehouse decided to send, and it bears no relation to the number of in-store preorders.

Yes, my book closes securely at the bottom but not at the top.

But it's good enough. I don't think it's one of my better looking steelies, but it will do.

I'm preordered for FF7 and the Target BTTF trilogy, both to be shipped to me. The photos of the latter look stunning.

Ha. I'm actually over it. I have a hunch that this won't be the last time we see this steel. I mean, think of the other Warner steels that were "exclusive" to Best Buy only to get wider releases later (Wrath of the Titans, Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows).
But didn't those other WB steels that were re-released a bit different from the original release? No inside art work or different finish? I remember BB's exclusive steelbook of Noah was a matte finish, which I preferred, and the re-release was a glossy finish. Not even sure if the re-release had any inside artwork. I don't if it's just me, while many would prefer glossy finish for all steelbooks, I think some matte finish fit the steelbook better in some.

Good new, bad news...(mostly good)
I placed a pre-order for three copies from three different stores. Not a scalper, just wanted to make sure I got ONE.
Started my adventure early to make my pick-ups.
Got to the first store 15 minutes after they opened, got my copy in great condition. The store received 6 total, none were left.
Drove a few minutes to the second store and they too had my copy, no issues. As I'm picking it up an older gentlemen asked the rep if they had anymore. They didn't, they received a total of 10 or so, all gone. He seemed pretty bummed. He was trying to buy one for his son or son-in-law. He decided to buy him the 3D copy to make it up to him. Outside the store, I caught up to him and offered to sell him my copy, face value. He insisted on trading me the 3D version for the Steelbook. He was more than happy as was I
Lastly, picked up my third copy and bam...damaged, dent on the bottom corner . The store had none left to exchange it.
I was going to just return it then. I thought I'd give this awesome forum first crack at it (even if damaged) before back to the store it goes. PM if interested, not looking to make $ from it. (PENDING)

Man, what a day...now I have the rest of the day to sip my beer, stare at the steelbook, and TRY to explain to my wife why I'm not crazy.

Thanks for his description. Don't recall seeing him before, but I'll be on the lookout from here on out. Can't wait until the day I see him pulling that crap.
Yeah I either go to that one or one down in Cutler Bay. Depending where I am closer to

I also preordered the steelbook using the card from the store, Just went to BB they told me they didn't get any, (which I know they did by the way a friend got a copy in the morning) and said they could give me a copy of the regular or a refund. I wanted to at least get the comic book from target since they I could no longer get the steelbook, so I asked for the refund but after I purchased the copy at Target I remembered that I used the code from cinemanow that came with the pre order does anyone know if that's gonna be a problem because if they try to charge me for it customer service is gonna hear about it.

Never gonna preorder using the cards from the store again I should've checked here and I could've made the stop in the morning before work.

I preordered the Star Wars, avengers and furious 7 steelbooks from the website so I hope those will be ok

Best Buy

Pre-ordered mine three weeks ago and picked it up today. Steelbook looked good I inspected the case before I left. When I got home and removed the plastic the spine was indeed scratched and the case doesn't close all the way. I hate BB so much!

Did any of the stores you guys went to just not receive any steel books at all? the store I had preordered with didn't even get any steel books in. I asked if this issue was isolated to only this store or more than one. The manager said it was several in the area. They took down my info and said they would notify me when they came in and that it'd be comped. We'll see what happens.

Same issue too. I wouldn't mind it so much but the spine on my steel is scratched which makes it even worse

They told me the same but I don't think it's true for some areas, in mine a friend got it in the morning and when I went to pick my preorder up they told me the same thing they told you. I can't speak for all areas but sometimes they're not truthful they also didn't offer me the same thing as you, he told me I could get the original or a refund, they just didn't handle this correctly.

Now Im stuck wondering what will happen to the cinemanow UV code I got when I preordered since I decided to get the refund for not getting the steelbook. I will gladly give the UV back somehow if I can but I am not keeping it if they try to charge me

Smart, I'm thinking of doing the same when it comes to big movies/steelbooks I want.

It's not hard to believe one of the three steels my buddy received was bent. Nice cardboard bag Best Buy.

Hmmm mine doesn't close all the way on the top either. Seems to be a manufacturing defect as so many are having the same problem. I wonder if I take heat to the female end bend them closer together it would solve the issue?

I'd never pay that kind of premium for stock photos.
