Romijn didn't have any other real acting gigs going on at the time she made the original X-Men films. That was her only real shot at silver-screen fame. Plus, she was a model first, so strutting around half-naked was second nature for her.
So she's an A-lister, therefore she's allowed to be a diva? What kind of defense is that? The character was well-established by the time Lawrence signed on, so she knew what she was getting into. Don't go telling the producers you aren't going to appear the way the character always has, forcing them to write around your ego.

That's the problem when actors become bigger than the movies they play in

Wow! You do realize she appeared as the "traditional" blue Mystique for longer sequences in this film than Romijn did in X2 & X3? I think both actresses requested less time in the blue naked suit after their first time around. The following article gives a good explanation of why it was no longer appealing for Lawrence to keep getting colored up. And they did the same thing for Nicholas Hoult/Beast, keeping him less in the fur suit for this film. J-Law even states she is open to appearing in future X-Men films as Mystique beyond the 3 she was originally under contract for.

It's silly to call someone a diva for not wanting to do something that most reasonable people wouldn't enjoy doing.

Its called sucking it up. Most people don't want to do stuff they don't like but they still have to do it especially if its work related.

If you sign up for that role, you should play that role. Enough said. She's a diva and full of herself.

Does any of you know who the mutant in Days of Future Past opening scene was? I have always been curious to know if she had any other roles in the X-Men universe

Some people here love J-Law, some hate her. Most of us don't care very much either way so I don't see this argument going anywhere.

I thought the kid scavenging was a boy. I could be wrong.

Yes, I know who you're talking about, but don't know what mutant it is. I don't think it is a major character. Just some random mutant.

Again who said anything about Diva?

Does anyone even know what the word means?

But seems anything anytime a woman asks for something she is classified as Diva or hard to work with. A man ask for the something and is praised. Going he deserves it. Plus no one watches videos about people promoting the movies do you? Other wise you know she likes doing the X-Men movies and hanging out with others.

But yes. She visits a Kids Hospital all the time in her hometown during Christmas. And instead of spending those little few days with her family. She visits sick kids in the hospital on her own accord. She's down this plenty of times and also while up in Candana shooting Apocalypse. But yes. Total Diva! Kim K better watch out.

Whether she's a diva or not, her character's position in these movies has been overstayed in my opinion. Turning her into a member of the X-men, let alone keeping her there as a leader, is just something I want them to get away from. I appreciate all they've done with her, but it's time for her to move on and let the spotlight shine on the younger X-Men.

Screw that commercial draw BS. The X-Men name is what draws people to see these movies, not just J-Law fans.

I still think it would have been great to kill Mystique off in Apocalypse and make her a martyr for mutantdom. It would have been the perfect way to close her character's arc.

Or let her leave and create a New Brotherhood w/out Magneto since he flip flops in every damn film.

Mutant "Suicide Squad" or Evil X-Force.

and it was pretty obvious that she was almost comatose on set. her line delivery is that of a bored high school student. It's very obvious she was just fulfilling a contract with no real effort whatsoever besides the "is it done yet?"

Or it's obvious that Jennifer Lawrence had a serious reaction to the make up used in FIRST CLASS, hence the reason why the went with the suit in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and APOCALYPSE.

On top of that, when you have Jennifer Lawrence as a supporting character in your franchise by freaking accident, you don't cover her up with make up either.

I don't think people understand how Fox lucked up with her in X-Men. She only got the role at the urging of her management team to get her more exposure at the time. This was before she became Katniss and WINTER'S BONE. WINTER'S BONE blows up, she gets nominated and nabs the role of Katniss RIGHT before FIRST CLASS premieres. When she shot FIRST CLASS, she was just Jennifer Lawrence, up incomer just trying tom make. When FIRST CLASS debuted, whole different story. I can almost guarantee you that Raven's arc in these films was drastically changed the moment she got that nomination and when HUNGER GAMES blew up.
