This is certainly looking to be the better King adaptation coming out this year

I'm on lockdown. I've loved the trailers so far but I'm going to try to not watch any more. I've already been spoiled on a pretty big change from the book, so I'm going to try to stay away from promos until this comes out.

That's because there's nothing interesting to learn about Michael Meyers. He's a dude in a mask.

IT is unabashedly more interesting and scary no matter how much you know.

I usually only watch the first trailer/teaser. After that it's all spoilers and I feel like I've already seen it.

There Will Be a 4-Minute Exclusive Look at ‘IT’ Attached to ‘Annabelle: Creation’

Quote:
If you’re seeing David F. Sandberg’s Annabelle: Creation next weekend, you may want to arrive early as Warner Bros. and New Line have attached a sneak peek at September’s IT to the film.

As reported by the reliable Trailer Track, a 4-minute-13-second extended footage reel for Andy Muschietti’s IT will be shown before Annabelle: Creation next weekend.

No word yet on what exactly will be included in the reel, but the site notes that the sneak peek likely won’t make its way online.

I was considering watching Annabelle: Creation already because I enjoyed the same director's Lights Out. This seals the deal.

Just finished the 1990 miniseries (which I have an issue calling it that. It's a 2 part made-for-TV movie. I feel like a miniseries should have at least 6 episodes.)

Wow, that was horrible. Like, don't get me wrong, I love cheesy 80's/90's horror...but that was just...bad It was super drawn out, super boring. Effects were instantly dated. It definitely felt like it was made for TV, and that's not a good thing.

I can see where if I watched it as a kid growing up, I would have definitely been scared. And have nostalgia for it. But watching it for the first time as a 29 year old that is heavily steeped in horror culture...just fell majorly flat for me.

Yeah the footage I've seen of the original looks awful haha. I never saw it as a kid so I have no nostalgia for it and don't really plan on ever seeing it. This is one of my favorite books though, and based on the trailers this new version looks like it's really doing the story justice

The novel is bugnuts -- no 80's ABC made-for-tv adaptation could have possibly done it justice, but I doubt even a feature film today could do it justice. They've already confirmed a lot of changes, I'm really indifferent to the project unless I hear good things, definitely in "wait and see" mode.

As an adult, no horror movie scares me anymore. I saw IT as a child and it really disturbed me. But, there must me plenty of adults who thought this movie was effective. There's a reason it was such a popular TV movie. It was frequently re-run on cable and popular on VHS and DVD. So I don't buy the argument that it's only good for people who saw it as a child and have nostalgia for it.

I think it holds up to other Stephen King horror adaptations of its era. Theatrical or made for tv. (Pet Sematary, Sleepwalkers, The Stand, The Langoliers, Storm of the Century, etc)

agree, Ideally a Game of thrones type treatment for IT and The Dark Tower is needed because of the size of the material to work with. Still, I'm hoping these new films have the flavors of the characters from the book even with the change in settings and what they can do with a 30 mill budget.

I disagree. Personally, I think Myers is way more scary. That emotionless mask and Myers emergence from the shadows is the stuff of nightmares.

For the record, I am looking forward to IT. It does look creepy, not saying it doesn't.

I was an adult when IT came out and it certainly didn't scare me. And I'm a fan of horror movies exactly because when they are effective, they still scare me.

The reason why I want to see this is because I liked Muschietti's Mama and think it's an underrated, recent horror film. I'm curios to see what he does with this.
