And IMO, Southbound is one of the better horror anthology films I have seen.
Southbound is great! I liked it more and more with subsequent viewings.

This was one of my favorite horror flicks of the last few years as well. It surprised me as I went into it not knowing really much and I really enjoyed it.

Thanks so much. All of this helped a ton. Just got back with it, and sure enough, the code on the receipt redeems for all 8 movies in HDX.

It took me forever to find it though. The shelves were in complete disarray - a disorganized, disgraceful mess - but it's on a bottom shelf in a standalone 2-3-way island in front of Electronics if you're looking for it. There's a pricier 8-movie DVD set in another part of the Electronics section, but that's not the one you want.

Might watch one or two of these tonight. Do they need to be seen in order or am I safe to jump around?

TBH, I have no idea which ones I've actually seen. Probably 1 or 2, and definitely the one with Dudley from Diff'rent Strokes (4? 5?), and probably bits and pieces of later sequels.

Any recommendations?

BTW, is there a huge difference between the theatrical and uncut for the first Friday the 13th? (The bundle comes with theatrical. even though the DVD comes with uncut.)

I'd recommend watching them in order as they do follow a continuity(poorly but still) and most of them recap the previous movie so you'll be spoiled by watching out of order.

The uncut version is a marketing ploy, the difference is about 10 seconds and is only noticeable if you know specifically what to look for.

If your into making of documentaries I'd recommend Crystal Lake Memories currently on sale $10(it's separated into 2 parts $5 each). It's about 7 hours total and covers all the films.

I love documentaries, and I actually got this one (along with Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy) in a past sale.

I've been curious about that one for a while, guess it's a pass.

Yeah I bought that bundle a couple weeks ago for $20 after I picked up the Friday films from the Walmart promo. I've been watching on of the films followed by the corresponding chapter from CLM, it's been a blast. Looking forward to doing the same with NOES.

Went an hour ago to Walmart, found a copy. Just put the code in now and got 1-8; HDX. So freakin awesome! Cheers. I saw this a while back in one of these threads, but forgot all about it. Perfect day to get these in my account.

CLM on sale is a buy, something is up with my dvd and it only plays half the time. Too lazy to hunt down the BD.

I just finished watching the first Friday the 13th. Much to my surprise, I've definitely never seen it - or at least I don't remember it. There's no hockey mask and it's not yet Jason as we know him. Good mindless fun - if a little long and slow at times - but I can see why the series, or at least the first movie, is so popular. Plus, Kevin Bacon is in it!

I watched a few of the sequels as a kid, but I couldn't tell you which ones. The only one I remember for sure is Part 5, with Dudley from Diff'rent Strokes, which I liked well enough but people insist it's the worst one.

I was always a Freddy guy.

This is a great idea and tip. I watched the first movie last night, followed by the first chapter of CLM.

Ranked:
1. 4 (Glover's dance is still epic)
2. 6 ("Hey, Nikki, what are you doing back there, taking a dump?")
3. 1 (The OG)
4. 2 (Potato sacks are cool too)
5.10 (In space, man)
6. 3 (Well, the icon is born - in 3D!)

And then i don't really care anymore.

I thought Friday the 13th Part 1 through 6 were all pretty good. (With the 1st and the 3rd movie being my favorites)

And I always enjoyed part 5. (Though it seems to be disliked a lot because of the ending)

I never cared much for the films after part 6. I guess Jason X is okay though, since it was in space, it was kind of amusing.

I'm kind of hesitant on these Halloween deals. I wonder if they will be even cheaper around Halloween. I seem to remember this happening before.

I always considered Friday the 13th as the best horror series. Freddy never did it for me and outside of the phenomenal first Halloween the rest of the series is weaker to me than the rest of the F13 series. You really can't to wrong with parts 1-4.

Agreed, except I did like the first Nightmare on Elm Street and New Nightmare. Probably because Wes Craven directed them.

A lot of this stuff never goes cheaper. What did you have in mind?

I also hate waiting until like the week of Halloween to buy this stuff. I like to have them to watch now and through all of October.
