I'd never really considered myself a fan of westerns in the past. I'd seen a few in passing over the years that I liked well enough (Tombstone and The Quick and the Dead) but I'd never been particularly interested in the genre at all.
Roughly a year ago, however, I was gifted a beautiful copy of the book True Grit by Charles Portis and enjoyed it immensely. It made me think "are there westerns I could enjoy as much as this book?" and my journey began ![]() Listed below are the films I've watched so far as I've explored the genre. I'm sure there are many essential films I'm missing, however, and would love your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks! High Plains Drifter No Country for Old Men The Revenant 3:10 to Yuma (2007) Unforgiven A Fistful of Dollars Hang em’ High The Proposition The Magnificent Seven (1960) The Magnificent Seven (2016) The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford For a Few Dollars More The Good The Bad and The Ugly Slow West Pale Rider The Homesman True Grit (2010) Once Upon a Time in the West The Hateful Eight The Wild Bunch Django Unchained Two Mules for Sister Sara |
