It's not worse than Batman and Robin but that is a very low bar indeed.

My biggest beef is that it being 1984 there seems to be a severe lack of pantyhose. A missed opportunity for some Gal hosed gams in 4K/3D goodness.

Re: dark screenshots. Why are the Warner masters always too dark - with everything lost in the inky shadows? Are they trying to get you to upgrade to 4K? Or...?
Given the film didn't play for me well in theatre I will wait to maybe get a blu-ray at Target on Thanksgiving when it probably be $5. (or not - this from a lifelong fan of Wonder Woman). : ( |

Watched the 4K blu-ray. I’d agree it’s reference quality. Beautiful filmic transfer with perhaps the best film grain rendered on a 4K disc yet. It’s definitely high up there with the beat 4K transfers on 4K blu-ray.
Audio is a little more reserved due to the lack of action, but it’s still a solid 4.5/5 for me. I still enjoyed the film the third time around. I understand some of the complaints about the story but I still can’t help getting swept up in the 80s cheese mixed with just how positive Diana’s character is. I’m not saying it’s perfect at all but at least for me, the positiveness of the story is really contagious. Diana is not perfect in the film but her growth is commendable IMO. Either way, the picture is very filmic and stunning and the Atmos track is no slouch. |

Edit: I think what HBO Max is doing is filtering the transfer of content with grain since they know the bitrate won’t keep up and it’ll create a bunch of compression artifacts. I noticed they did this with Zack Snyder’s Justice League. At first I was surprised how little compression issues the stream had, but then i also noticed the lack of film grain, especially given Zack shot it on 35mm. That’s when I noticed the DNR. So they’re avoiding major compression artifacts, but they’re also filtering fine detail away. Another reason to get 4K discs whenever available. Last edited by samlop10; 03-27-2021 at 03:12 AM. |

Is it an upscale? It does have a lot of CGI so maybe that’s why the detail in some scenes isn’t reference, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they upscaled the effects but the actual stuff that was shot is native 4K (like what they did with The Martian, The Last Jedi, and Rogue One I believe).
