Since it doesn’t seem to be surprise dropping ahead of S4, I really don’t think it’ll happen now, however since you mention it, I do think with it being a partly horror themed show that just before or during October would have some potential even if not much.

Getting 40 bucks for a single season of a 4 season show out of the millions of the titles they have is not going to cost them any subscribers. And I'd bet there's be plenty of overlap with people who have subscriptions and want the physical.

Except when you’re losing revenue from said loss of subscribers, you start opening yourself up to other avenues of making money. No one on the planet is going to say, “I’m specifically interested in a three year-old season of a Netflix show and I was prepared to subscribe to them to see it, but since they put it out on disc, no way, José! I’ll just get that instead!” (which, again, even if they did, would STILL be revenue for the company)

Netflix has been a streaming giant for nearly a decade; they're practically synonymous to it. Almost no one watches a Netflix title and thinks "Well, can't wait to own that on Bluray" whereas that's more a common thought when they're walking out of the latest Marvel movie. And of course big revenue is Netflix's main mission. But isn't it more telling that they probably looked at the sales revenue for the first two seasons and thought "Well, clearly this ain't worth it"? But I've been wrong before, so if they do, good for you. Really. But financially, it just makes zero sense. |

Occam's razor: business-wise, financially-wise, if it was financially beneficial for them to do this, wouldn't they just go ahead and do it? |

Like people, there are smart businesses and there are dumb ones. Smart Netflix won out in the marketplace against dumb Blockbuster, but now Netflix’s business acumen is slipping. Business history is replete with fallen titans.
